Fabry Disease (FD) is a rare X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficiency of alpha-galactosidase A (alpha-GAL) enzyme activity. Neutral glycosphingolipides (esp. Gb3) accumulate in lysosomes of several tissues, particularly in vascular endothelium and smooth muscle cells. Cerebral manifestations that might be mainly due to progressive cerebrovascular dysfunction, are one major and often life-threatening burden of the disease. We reviewed the present literature concerning brain structural alterations in FD and discuss the possibly relevant underlying pathophysiological aspects of these disturbances. Historical, diplomatic and linguistic study of thirty medieval Greek documents issued in Calabria in the 11th-12th centuries and preserved in original parchment in the Archivo Ducal de Medinaceli. A cd-rom with parchment reproduction allows the reading and the palaeographic analysis of the original.

Gabriel Narutowicz wybrany na urząd prezydenta w grudniu 1922 r. został zamordowany przez Eligiusza Niewiadomskiego, zaledwie tydzień po elekcji i drugim dniu urzędowania. Mentālās rotācijas uzdevuma izpildes atšķirības labročiem un kreiļiem

Bakalaura darbs uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 37 lapām. Tas satur 18 attēlus, 1 tabulu, 1 pielikumu, 24 literatūras avotu atsauces. Darba mērķis – noteikt, vai mentālās rotācijas uzdevuma veiktspēja atšķiras kreiļiem un labročiem. Tika izstrādāts datorizēts tests (192 figūru pāri). Dalībnieku uzdevums – noteikt, vai divi objekti ir vienādi vai viens otra spoguļattēli. Pētījumā piedalījās 86 dalībnieki (43 labroči, 43 kreiļi), puse no dalībniekiem sniedza atbildi “figūras ir vienādas” ar kreiso roku, otra – ar labo roku. Kreiļi mentālās rotācijas uzdevumu veica lēnāk nekā labroči. Atšķirīgie testa veida RH un LH kreiļu rezultātu būtiski neietekmē, taču labroču RH grupa testu veica ievērojami…

Orthogonal switching of AMS axes during type-2 fold interference : Insights from integrated X-ray computed tomography, AMS and 3D petrography

We applied X-ray computed microtomography (μ-CT) in combination with anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) analysis to study metamorphic rock fabrics in an oriented drill core sample of pyrite-pyrrhotite-quartz-mica schist. The sample is extracted from the Paleoproterozoic Martimo metasedimentary belt of northern Finland. The μ-CT resolves the spatial distribution, shape and orientation of 25,920 pyrrhotite and 153 pyrite grains localized in mm-thick metapelitic laminae. Together with microstructural analysis, the μ-CT allows us to interpret the prolate symmetry of the AMS ellipsoid and its relationship to the deformation history. Synthesis of self-assembled mesoporous 3D In2O3 hierarchical micro flowers composed of nanosheets and their electrochemical properties

This report describes the methodology for the fabrication of mesoporous In2O3 microflowers by hydrothermal and calcination procedures in which In(OH)3/In2S3 acts as an intermediate. Both In2O3 and its precursor were analyzed with scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectrophotometry, transmission electron microscopy and powder X-ray diffraction. BET surface area, pore size and pore volume analyses were also carried out. Electron microscopy images clearly evidence the self-assembly of 2D nanosheets into the micro flower structure. Vaihto-opiskelu on kasvattanut suosiotaan sekä maailmanlaajuisesti että Suomessa erityisesti korkea-asteen opiskelijoiden keskuudessa. Suomi kohdemaana on hyvä esimerkki siitä, ettei nykyään pääsyy ulkomailla opiskeluun ole välttämättä kohdemaan kielen oppiminen, sillä maahan tullaan yleensä ilman paikallisten kielten osaamista ja opinnot suoritetaan englanniksi. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli kuvata, miten kansainväliset vaihto- ja tutkinto-opiskelijat käyttävät englantia, suomea ja muita osaamiaan kieliä Suomessa oleskelunsa aikana.
