Maximum likelihood ADC parameter estimates improve selection of metastatic cervical nodes for patients with head and neck squamous cell cancer

The aim of this work was to determine whether classification of benign and metastatic cervical nodes based on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) could be improved by use of a maximum likelihood algorithm for derivation of ADC parameters. A non linear least squares (LSQ) algorithm is usually used to fit parameters to the measured MR signal intensities as a function of b-value. LSQ assumes that the noise in high b-values is normally distributed whereas in reality it follows a Rice distribution. We describe an operational procedure to build an integrated information system (IIS) for monitoring and evaluating the performance of public broadcasting corporations (PBC). The procedure grounds in a conceptual framework derived from evaluation models, and consists of two stages. The first stage is the selection, through expert judgment, of simple indicators that illustrate the most relevant aspects of the corporations. The second stage is the definition of a system of indicators related to each level of the hierarchy of objectives planned by the corporations. The system of indicators has two levels. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu programu "Rodzina 500+" na poziom życia gospodarstw domowych w Polsce. W tym celu przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą relacji między samooceną poziomu zaspokajania podstawowych grup potrzeb a dochodami, wydatkami konsumpcyjnymi i wybranymi charakterystykami gospodarstw domowych klasyfikowanych według kryterium typu biologicznego. Porównywano sytuację gospodarstw domowych w roku 2015 i 2017, czyli w roku bezpośrednio poprzedzającym wprowadzenie programu świadczeń wychowawczych i roku, w którym świadczenie to wypłacane było już przez pełne 12 miesięcy. Cinema audiences reproducibly vary the chemical composition of air during films, by broadcasting scene specific emissions on breath

AbstractHuman beings continuously emit chemicals into the air by breath and through the skin. In order to determine whether these emissions vary predictably in response to audiovisual stimuli, we have continuously monitored carbon dioxide and over one hundred volatile organic compounds in a cinema. It was found that many airborne chemicals in cinema air varied distinctively and reproducibly with time for a particular film, even in different screenings to different audiences. Application of scene labels and advanced data mining methods revealed that specific film events, namely “suspense” or “comedy” caused audiences to change their emission of specific chemicals. Toward 3D integral-imaging broadcast with increased viewing angle and parallax

Abstract We propose a new method for improving the observer experience when using an integral monitor. Our method permits to increase the viewing angle of the integral monitor, and also the maximum parallax that can be displayed. Additionally, it is possible to decide which parts of the 3D scene are displayed in front or behind the monitor. Our method is based, first, in the direct capture, with significant excess of parallax, of elemental images of 3D real scenes. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effect of receive diversity on multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) performance in wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) networks. In addition to time diversity provided by long interleaving and receive diversity provided by multiple receive antennas, 3GPP release 6 specifications for MBMS introduce two macro diversity schemes: soft and selective combining. AIM: To describe the appearance of small solid renal lesions (≤3 cm) on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to determine whether ADC measurements may help to differentiate benign from malignant small solid renal masses.
