Epifītisko ķērpju daudzveidība un tās ietekmējošie faktori platlapju koku mežos

Platlapju koku mežos ir liela epifītisko ķērpju daudzveidība, taču šādi meži Latvijā ir reti sastopami. Lielākoties epifītisko ķērpju daudzveidība Latvijā ir pētīta aizsargājamās teritorijās, tāpēc zināšanas par ķērpju vispārīgo izplatību ārpus aizsargājamām teritorijām ir niecīgas. Šī pētījuma mērķis bija saprast faktorus, kas ietekmē epifītisko ķērpju daudzveidību platlapju mežos Latvijā. Epifītisko ķērpju daudzveidību platlapju koku mežos pētīja divos Latvijas reģionos: Kurzemē un Zemgalē. Kopā 19 mežaudzēs tika konstatētas 68 ķērpju sugas uz 160 apsekotajiem kokiem, kuri pārstāvēja 11 koku sugas. riassunto — Le mummie moderne e il signifcato recondito della doppia sepoltura nelle culture mediterranee moderne sono da tempo ampiamente dibattuti. In questo lavoro si discute di una particolare “collezione” di corpi di ecclesiastici, mummifcati ed esposti in un comune montano madonita della Sicilia, Gangi. I corpi, principalmente risalenti al XIX secolo, mummifcati per colatura come nella tradizione del tempo e vestiti degli abiti talari, sono esposti nel piano sottostante della Chiesa Madre, in quella che nella tradizione è detta la “fossa dei parrini” (fossa dei preti). Global analysis of the pMSSM in light of the Fermi GeV excess: prospects for the LHC Run-II and astroparticle experiments

We present a new global fit of the 19-dimensional phenomenological Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (pMSSM-19) that comply with all the latest experimental results from dark matter indirect, direct and accelerator dark matter searches. We show that the model provides a satisfactory explanation of the excess of gamma-rays from the Galactic centre observed by the Fermi~Large Area Telescope, assuming that it is produced by the annihilation of neutralinos in the Milky Way halo. We identify two regions that pass all the constraints: the first corresponds to neutralinos with a mass ~80-100 GeV annihilating into WW with a branching ratio of 95% ; the second to heavier neutralinos, with mass ~…

Augstas precizitātes laika mērīšanai ir liela nozīme mūsdienu pasaulē- tai ir būtiska nozīme dažādos zinātniskos eksperimentos, kā arī tā ir tiešā veidā atbildīga par GPS sistēmas precizitāti. Lai iegūtu pēc iespējas mazāku kļūdu, ir pēc iespējas precīzāk jānomēra atomārās pārejas, kuru frekvences ir centrālas mūsdienu atompulksteņu darbībai. Viens no nozīmīgākajiem atomiem laika mērīšanai ir rubīdijs. Frekvenču ķemme ļauj saistīt nomērītās radiofrekvences ar optiskajām, kas ļauj ātrāk iegūt nepieciešamo precizitāti. Novērtējumu kļūdu analīze neatbildētības gadījumā

Darba tēma ir "Novērtējumu kļūdu analīze neatbildētības gadījumā". Neatbildētība ir ļoti aktuāla problēma ar kuru saskarās visos apsekojumos. Darbā tiek izpētīts neatbildētības teorētiskais pamats, aplūkota neatbildētības ietekme uz novērtējuma precizitāti un iespējas šo ietekmi samazināt. Lai apstiprinātu teorētiskos apgalvojumus par neatbildētības ietekmi darbā dažādiem novērtējumiem tiek rēķinātas vidējās kvadrātiskās kļūdas atbildējušo respondentu, neatbildējušo respondentu daļām un populācijas kopumam. Ar praktisku piemēru tiek parādīts, ka ar svaru sistēmas korekcijas palīdzību tiek palielināta novērtējumu precizitāte (samazināta neatbildētības ietekme).
Physiological, Perceptual, and Performance Responses to the 2-Week Block of High- versus Low-Intensity Endurance Training

Purpose This study examined the physiological, perceptual, and performance responses to a 2-week block of increased training load and compared whether responses differ between high-intensity interval (HIIT) and low-intensity (LIT) endurance training. Methods Thirty recreationally trained males and females performed a two-week block of 10 HIIT-sessions (INT, n = 15) or 70 % increased volume of LIT (VOL, n = 15). Running time in the 3000 m and basal serum and urine hormone concentrations were measured before (T1) and after the block (T2), and after a recovery week (T3). Einstein Versus Neutrinos

This article focuses on the news coverage given to the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) announcement that neutrinos might exceed the speed of light, flying in the face of Albert Einstein’s theory. By studying 140 cartoons about the news item published between the CERN’s announcement at the end of September 2011 up until its refutation in February 2012, we selected 33 devoted to Albert Einstein. We study the iconographic use of Einstein’s figure, and how the suggestion he might have been wrong stirred up greater interest among the cartoonists than when it was proven his ideas are still fully in force.
Improved Quadratic Time-frequency Distributions for Detecting Inter-turn Short Circuits of PMSMs in Transient States

This paper aims to improve quadratic time-frequency distributions to adapt condition monitoring of electrical machines in transient states. Short-Time Fourier transform (STFT) has been a baseline signal processing technique for detecting fault characteristic frequencies. However, limits of window sizes due to loss of frequency- or time-resolution, make it hard to capture rapid changes in frequencies. Hadronic light-by-light contribution to $(g-2)_\mu$ from lattice QCD with SU(3) flavor symmetry

We perform a lattice QCD calculation of the hadronic light-by-light contribution to $(g-2)_\mu$ at the SU(3) flavor-symmetric point $m_\pi=m_K\simeq 420\,$MeV. The representation used is based on coordinate-space perturbation theory, with all QED elements of the relevant Feynman diagrams implemented in continuum, infinite Euclidean space. As a consequence, the effect of using finite lattices to evaluate the QCD four-point function of the electromagnetic current is exponentially suppressed. Thanks to the SU(3)-flavor symmetry, only two topologies of diagrams contribute, the fully connected and the leading disconnected.
