Tutkimukseni kohteena ovat Kainuussa työskentelevät terveydenhuollon sosiaalityön am-mattilaiset ja heidän käsityksensä sairaalan sosiaalityön sisällöstä ja asemasta uudessa suunnitteilla olevassa sairaalassa. Tutkimukseni tavoitteena on tarkastella, millaista asian-tuntijuutta nykyiset sosiaalialan ammattilaiset tuovat Kainuuseen rakennettavaan uuteen keskussairaalaan. Tutkimukseni toisena tavoitteena on muodostaa ohjelmateorian keinoin ehdotus siitä, millaista sosiaalityö uudessa sairaalassa voisi olla. Domain-Specific Risk and Public Policy

We develop a method to estimate domain-specific risk. We apply the method to sickness insurance by fitting a utility function at the individual level, using European survey data on life satisfaction. Three results stand out. First, relative risk aversion increases with income. Second, marginal utility is higher in the sick state conditional on income, due to an observed fixed cost of sickness. Third, the domain-specificity of risk shifts the focus on the smoothing of utility, not consumption. Private health insurance in the universal public healthcare system: The role of healthcare provision in Finland

Voluntary private health insurance (VPHI) has gained popularity in universal public healthcare systems. We studied how the local provision of healthcare services correlated with VPHI take-up in Finland. Nationwide register data from a Finnish insurance company was aggregated to the local level and augmented with high-quality data on public and private primary care providers’ geographical closeness and fees. We found that the sociodemographic characteristics explained the VPHI take-up more than public or private healthcare provision. Few studies used the approach to use the very barrier as s mean to try and educate and breed good habits. Joint second-order parameter estimation for spatio-temporal log-Gaussian Cox processes

We propose a new fitting method to estimate the set of second-order parameters for the class of homogeneous spatio-temporal log-Gaussian Cox point processes. With simulations, we show that the proposed minimum contrast procedure, based on the spatio-temporal pair correlation function, provides reliable estimates and we compare the results with the current available methods. Moreover, the proposed method can be used in the case of both separable and non-separable parametric specifications of the correlation function of the underlying Gaussian Random Field. We describe earthquake sequences comparing several Cox model specifications.

The aim of this study was to examine the positions that health personnel in specialist health care construct for patients experiencing intimate partner violence. It was also studied whether these constructed positions were challenged by other health care professionals and if so, how. The method of analysis chosen was discourse analysis. Digitalisoitumisen myötä monet arjessa tarvittavat tiedot ja palvelut ovat siirtyneet teknologiaympäristöihin, joiden käyttö vaatii digitaalista lukutaitoa. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin digitaalisten ympäristöjen esteettömyyttä sellaisten nuorten näkökulmasta, joilla on kielellisiä erityisvaikeuksia (SLI). Tutkimus pyrki osallistamaan näitä nuoria digitaalisten palvelujen suunnitteluun. Digitaalisiksi palveluiksi valittiin mielen hyvinvointia edistäviä sivustoja, sovelluksia ja pelejä, koska SLI-nuorilla on todettu muita useammin mielen hyvinvoinnin pulmia.
