Polymerisation von methylmethacrylat mit alkaliorganischen verbindungen. Über die stereospezifische polymerisation mit alkaliorganischen verbindungen…
1962

The investigation of electron transfer and subsequent reactions of divinylidene compounds not capable of anionic homopolymerization was extended to 1,3-bis(1-phenylvinyl)benzene (2). A new method for the preparation of this compound is described. Its reaction with Li, Na, and K as electron transfer reagents in THF as solvent results in an increasing yield in polymeric combination products of the radical anions formed primarily with increasing reducing power of the alkali metal. The main product, however, in any case is the cyclic dimeric tetra-anion of 2, which upon protonation yields 1,4,11,14-tetraphenyl[4.4]metacyclophane (3).

Charged Tags for the Identification of Oxidative Drug Metabolites Based on Electrochemistry and Mass Spectrometry
2020
Abstract Most of the active pharmaceutical ingredients like Metoprolol are oxidatively metabolized by liver enzymes, such as Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases into oxygenates and therefore hydrophilic products. It is of utmost importance to identify the metabolites and to gain knowledge on their toxic impacts. By using electrochemistry, it is possible to mimic enzymatic transformations and to identify metabolic hot spots. By introducing charged‐tags into the intermediate, it is possible to detect and isolate metabolic products. The identification and synthesis of initially oxidized metabolites are important to understand possible toxic activities. The gained knowledge about the metabolism will…
An electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometric study of the gas-phase stabilities and fragmentation ofN-alky…
2006
Five N-alkylated ammonium resorcarene derivatives, differing either in the nitrogen atom or in the lower rim alkyl chain, were studied using electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. The main purpose was to clarify the fragmentation and the relative stabilities of the protonated molecules by collision-induced dissociation (CID) experiments. The results indicate that fragmentation of the upper rim alkyl amino substituents at the 2-position occurs readily. Variation in the gas-phase stabilities of these molecules was also observed. In addition, the proposed fragmentation pathways are depicted.
Mass spectrometric studies of benzoxazine resorcarenes
2002
Eleven differently substituted 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine resorcarenes were studied by electrospray ionisation (ESI) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI) mass spectrometry, using Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) and time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometers, respectively. Under ESI conditions it was possible to transfer the intact resorcarenes from solution to the gas phase, yielding [M + H]+ and [M + 2H]+ ions as the main ions observed. Energy increase of the ions induced ready decomposition through successive eliminations of four CH2NR groups. Ion-molecule reactions showed that the ionising proton was situated somewhere inside the molecule and could …
Cytosporones, coumarins, and an alkaloid from the endophytic fungus Pestalotiopsis sp. isolated from the Chinese mangrove plant Rhizophora mucronata
2009
Chemical examination of the endophytic fungus Pestalotiopsis sp., isolated from the leaves of the Chinese mangrove Rhizophora mucronata, yielded 11 new compounds including cytosporones J-N (1-3, 5-6), five new coumarins pestalasins A-E (8-12), and a new alkaloid named pestalotiopsoid A (14), along with the known compounds cytosporone C (4), dothiorelone B (7), and 3-hydroxymethyl-6,8-dimethoxycoumarin (13). The structures of the new compounds were unambiguously elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic data analysis.
Surfactant self-assembly in the gas phase: Bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate- alkaline metal ion aggregates
2008
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted for systems in vacuo consisting of n AOT anions (bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate ions) and n 1 or n Na+ ions up to n = 20. For n = 15, positively charged systems with Li+, K+, and Cs+ cations were also considered. All systems were observed to form reverse micelle-like aggregates whose centre is occupied by cations and polar heads in a very compact solid-like way, while globally the aggregate has the form of an elongated and rather flat ellipsoid. Various types of statistical analyses were carried out on the systems to enlighten structural and dynamical properties including gyration radius, atomic pair correlation functions, atomic B-factor …
Novel photoreception system in sponges?
2006
Abstract Sponges (phylum Porifera) of the classes Hexactinellida and Demospongiae possess a skeleton composed of siliceous spicules, which are synthesized enzymatically. The longest spicules are found among the Hexactinellida, with the stalk spicules (length: 30 cm; diameter: 300 μm) of Hyalonema sieboldi as prominent examples. These spicules are constructed around a central axial filament, which is formed by approximately 40 siliceous layers. The stratified spicules function as optical glass fibers with unique properties. If free-spaced coupled with a white light source (WLS), the entire fiber is illuminated. Special features of the light transmission: (i) only wavelengths between 615 and …
Prenatal exposure to perfluoroalkyl substances, immune-related outcomes, and lung function in children from a Spanish birth cohort study.
2019
Background: Prenatal exposure to perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) has been associated with impaired immune and respiratory health during childhood but the evidence is inconsistent and limited for lung function. We studied the association between prenatal PFASs exposure and immune and respiratory health, including lung function, up to age 7 years in the Spanish INMA birth cohort study. Methods: We assessed four PFASs in maternal plasma samples collected during the 1st trimester of pregnancy (years: 2003-2008): perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), perfluorooctanoate (PFOA), and perfluorononanoate (PFNA). Mothers reported the occurrence (yes/no) of lower respir…
