What comes first: Combining motion capture and eye tracking data to study the order of articulators in constructed action in sign language narratives

We use synchronized 120 fps motion capture and 50 fps eye tracking data from two native signers to investigate the temporal order in which the dominant hand, the head, the chest and the eyes start producing overt constructed action from regular narration in seven short Finnish Sign Language stories. From the material, we derive a sample of ten instances of regular narration to overt constructed action transfers in ELAN which we then further process and analyze in Matlab. The results indicate that the temporal order of articulators shows both contextual and individual variation but that there are also repeated patterns which are similar across all the analyzed sequences and signers. Captain America comics were originally created in the 1940s as war propaganda. In the 2010s the story was remade as a successful movie franchise. Nowadays Hollywood is quite dependent on overseas sales, which is something they need to consider when producing their high-budget films. This thesis concentrates on how the story and the character of Captain America were reshaped to better appeal to modern and international audiences. This is done by comparing the ways America/Americans and other countries/ nationalities are addressed both in the comics and the films. In recent years, we have assisted with an impressive advance in augmented reality systems and computer vision algorithms, based on image processing and artificial intelligence. Thanks to these technologies, mainstream smartphones are able to estimate their own motion in 3D space with high accuracy. In this paper, we exploit such technologies to support the autonomous mobility of people with visual disabilities, identifying pre-defined virtual paths and providing context information, reducing the distance between the digital and real worlds. Apzinātības aspektu saistība ar izdegšanu un perfekcionismu

Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādas saistības pastāv starp apzinātības aspektiem, izdegšanu un perfekcionismu. Pētījuma izlase sastāv no 202 respondentiem vecumā no 18 līdz 77 gadiem, kuri elektroniski aizpildīja Apzinātības piecu aspektu aptauju, Maslačas izdegšanas aptauju un Perfekcionisma aptauju. Pētījumā tika izvirzītas trīs hipotēzes un viens pētījuma jautājums. Pētījuma rezultāti norāda uz to, ka apstiprinās visas trīs pētījumā izvirzītās hipotēzes. Var secināt, ka pastāv statistiksi nozīmīgas saistības starp apzinātības aspektiem, izdegšanu un perfekcionismu.
Perfekcionisma saistība ar prokrastināciju un stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģijām

Maģistra darba mērķis bija noskaidrot, vai adaptīvam perfekcionismam, salīdzinot ar neadaptīvo perfekcionismu, būs raksturīgs zemāks prokrastinācijas līmenis un augstāki rādītāji adaptīvajās stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģijās. Pētījumā piedalījās 116 respondentu, no kuriem 45 ir vīrieši un 71 - sievietes. Vecumā no 18 līdz 35 gadiem. Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kā vecāku audzināšanas stili un ģimenes perfekcionisms saistās ar indivīda perfekcionisma dimensijām. Datu ieguvei izmantotas 3 pašnovērtējuma aptaujas – Vecāku autoritātes aptauja (Parental Authority Questionnaire, PAQ, Buri, 1991; Hibbard & Walton, 2014), Ģimenes perfekcionisma aptauja (Family Almost Perfect Scale, FAPS, Wang, 2010) un Frosta Multidimensionālā perfekcionisma skala (Frost Multidimensional Perfekctionism Scale, FMPS, Frost et al., 1990). Darba mērķis ir izpētīt Ķīnas politiskās un ekonomiskās intereses Baltijas jūras reģionā, kā arī aplūkot kādi iekšēji un ārēji faktori varētu būt vadījuši līdzšinējo Ķīnas pieeju šajā reģionā. Par darba teorētisko bāzi tiks izmantota sinerģija starp defensīvā neoreālisma un konstruktīvisma teorijām, autoram tā cenšoties parādīt gan materiālos, gan ideoloģiskos apsvērumus Ķīnas rīcībai un interesēm.
