C 4 photosynthesis is a fascinating example of parallel evolution of a complex trait involving multiple genetic, biochemical and anatomical changes. It is seen as an adaptation to deleteriously high levels of photorespiration. The current scenario for C 4 evolution inferred from grasses is that it originated subsequent to the Oligocene decline in CO 2 levels, is promoted in open habitats, acts as a pre-adaptation to drought resistance, and, once gained, is not subsequently lost. Abstract The intracellular chloride concentration [Cl−]i in neurons is regulated by a set of transmembrane transporters, with the Cl−-loader NKCC1 and the Cl−-extruder KCC2 as most relevant members. The expression of these transporters is tightly regulated, with the general trend that KCC2 expression is low in immature neurons, which are thus characterized by a high [Cl−]i. As [Cl−]i is the main factor determining the polarity of GABAergic responses, such a high [Cl−]i is related to depolarizing GABAergic responses. Within the autistic spectrum, there is remarkable variability in the etiology, presentation, and treatment response. This prospective study was designed to identify, through cluster analysis, subgroups of individuals with ASD without intellectual disability (ID) based on the severity of the core symptoms in childhood. The secondary aim was to explore whether these subgroups and a group with typical development (TD) differ in cognitive, adaptive, and social aspects measured in adolescence. The sample at baseline was comprised of 52 children with ASD without ID and 37 children with TD, aged 7–11. Among the ASD group, three clusters were identified. Visbiežākās acu slimības ir glaukoma, katarakta, konjunktivīts un sausās acs sindroms. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt acu slimībām paredzēto preparātu (recepšu, bezrecepšu medikamenti, uztura bagātinātāji) apriti un lietošanas tendences piecās Ludzas aptiekās no 01.2013 līdz 12.2014. Iegūtie dati norāda, ka 93% receptes izraksta oftalmologi un visbiežāk tie ir prostaglandīna analogi (latanoprostu). Kopumā bezrecepšu medikamenti sastādīja 79% no acu slimībām lietotajiem medikamentiem, kas norāda uz farmaceitu būtisko lomu un nepieciešamību šo preparātu pārzināšanā un korekta ieteikšanā pacientiem. Kā arī farmaceits ir otrā vietā pēc oftalmologa, kam pacients stāstā par acu problēmām (25%).…
La adaptación cultural en estudiantes extranjeros

En este trabajo, se desarrolla el concepto de adaptación cultural, particularmente se aborda la adaptación de los estudiantes extranjeros. Se plantean diferentes modelos explicativos y se comentan diferentes niveles de adaptación. Se trabaja con conceptos como aculturación y estrés por aculturación. Por último, se comentan algunas de las investigaciones que abordaron los factores que favorecen la integración del estudiante extranjero.
