One-year survival of demented stroke patients: data from the Dijon Stroke Registry, France (1985-2008)

Background and purpose: Dementia is a frequent condition after stroke that may affect the prognosis of patients. Our aim was to determine whether post-stroke dementia was a predictor of 1-year case-fatality and to evaluate factors that could influence survival in demented stroke patients. Methods: From 1985 to 2008, all first-ever strokes were recorded in the population-based stroke registry of Dijon, France (150 000 inhabitants). Dementia was diagnosed during the first month following stroke, according to DSM-III and DSM-IV criteria. We modified an analytical method to determine polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in urban soils of Bratislava (Slovakia). Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) introduced as a clean-up step for soil extracts substantially reduced matrix enhancements when PBDEs were measured with gas chromatography-negative chemical ionization-mass spectrometry (GC-NCI-MS). The resulting method proved to be accurate, precise, and showed low detection limits. The sum of 15 PBDE concentrations in surface horizons of Bratislava soils ranged from 87 to 627 pg g(-1). This study analyses the impact of third-party voluntary certifications on the asset of wineries operating in the Southern Italian regions. The study carried out both quantitative and qualitative approaches, with data extracted from the AIDA Bureau van Dijk International Database (including performance indicators). The analysed sector belongs to 11.02 ‘Manufacture of wine from grape’ of the Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community (NACE). Si bien en la educación presencial uno de los factores clave del éxito es el desempeño del docente dentro del salón de clase, es evidente que dentro de la educación en línea el papel del docente será distinto a su papel tradicional. Por ello, deben revalorarse los factores que garantizarán la calidad en este nuevo tipo de oferta educativa. En este estudio se muestran los resultados obtenidos de un análisis de caso de educación mixta (blended learning) para educación superior, y se enlistan los factores de éxito resultantes, así como algunas barreras para la adecuada implantación.

The present study aims to provide a further contribution to the knowledge about the mechanism of price formation concerning olive orchards and vineyards in a land market of south-west Sicily.
