Prácticas de laboratorio alineadas con el diseño de un proyecto de investigación mediante metodología docente ABP: el proyecto Agua de Fagos

[ES] Las prácticas de laboratorio académicas no están, en general, diseñadas para desarrollar las competencias relacionadas con el trabajo independiente del alumno. En el presente artículo proponemos una nueva forma de diseñar prácticas experimentales, alineando el desarrollo de un proyecto de investigación escrito con la realización posterior del proyecto a nivel práctico en el laboratorio, en un poderoso ensamble que genera aprendizajes muy interesantes para desarrollar las competencias relacionadas con la autonomía del alumno en el laboratorio experimental. La metodología utilizada es el aprendizaje basado en problema (ABP).

Heart-type fatty acid binding protein is a sensitive biomarker for early AMI detection in troponin negative patients: a pilot study

Background: Early detecting AMI in individuals presenting to the ED with chest pain continues to be a challenge. cTn is the gold standard for AMI diagnosis but early presenters (<1 hours from symptom onset) maybe cTn negative on admission. We analysed the diagnostic value of h-FABP and hs-TnI in patients presenting to ED with chest pain and no cTnI elevations. Methods: 28 AMI and 28 no-AMI individuals both presented to ED within one hour from pain onset were included. Blood donors were analysed for h-FABP cut-off identification. Background and purpose The aim was to assess the value of insoluble PABPN1 muscle fibre nuclei accumulation in the diagnosis of atypical cases of oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD). Epigenome is an emerging field that demands selective cell-permeable chemical probes to perturb, especially in vivo, the activity of specific enzymes involved in modulating the epigenetic codes. Coactivator Associated Arginine (R) Methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) is a coactivator of estrogen receptor α (ERα), the main target in human breast cancer. Background: Naturally occurring variation in Membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 7 (MBOAT7), encoding for an enzyme involved in phosphatidylinositol acyl-chain remodelling, has been associated with fatty liver and hepatic disorders. Here, we examined the relationship between hepatic Mboat7 down-regulation and fat accumulation. Methods: Hepatic MBOAT7 expression was surveyed in 119 obese individuals and in experimental models. MBOAT7 was acutely silenced by antisense oligonucleotides in C57Bl/6 mice, and by CRISPR/Cas9 in HepG2 hepatocytes.
