Synthesis, X‐ray Structure, Thermal and Magnetic Behavior of [(bipy) 2 Ni 2 (μ‐Cl) 2 Cl 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]: The First Neutral Ferromagnetically Coupled Si…

2007

NiCl2·6H2O and 2,2′-bipyridine (bipy) (1:1) were allowed to react under ambient conditions in dimethyl sulfoxide in the presence of acetylacetone (Hacac). The resulting green solution was concentrated in vacuo, and a green solid was isolated by precipitation with cold acetone. X-ray quality crystals of [(bipy)2Ni2(μ-Cl)2(Cl)2(H2O)2] (1) were grown by subsequent vapor/liquid diffusion of acetonitrile into a methanolic solution for one week. The structure of 1 consists of a dimeric nickel system with each metal atom in an octahedral geometry. Both equatorial bridging and axial chlorine atoms are present in this neutral species. The nickel–nickel distance (3.441 A) is the shortest reported to …

Studies on adducts of organotin(IV) halides with bis(acetylacetone)ethylenediimine

1971

The solid state configuration of 1/1 adducts, formed by mono-, di- and tri-organotin(IV) halides with the potentially tetradentate ligand bis(acetylacetone)ethylenediimine, has been investigated. The infrared spectra suggest that the neutral ligand coordinates SnIV through N (or O) atoms of the H-bonded acetylacetoneimine moieties. The skeletal vibrations associated to Sn-C and Sn-Cl bonds are consistent with square planar configurations of the organotin(IV) halide moieties, where SnCl3 and C3Sn groups would be T-shaped, and Alk2SnCl2 would have trans-dialkyl, trans-dichloro arrangements. The latter configuration is supported by the magnitude of the quadrupole splittings. Measurements of th…

Synthetically persistent, self assembled [V(IV)2V(V)4] polyoxovanadates: facile synthesis, structure and magnetic analysis.

2011

Slow diffusion in a H-tube at room temperature of a methanolic solution of [VO(acac)(2)] (Hacac = acetylacetone) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) or 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) into an aqueous solution of sodium pyrophosphate (Na(4)P(2)O(7)) resulted in the serendipitous formation of X-ray quality crystals of mixed-valent, hexameric oxovanadates of general formula [V(6)O(12)(OCH(3))(4)(L)(4)]·solv [L = 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) for 1· 2CH(3)OH · 4H(2)O (1a), and 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) for 2· 4H(2)O (2a)]. These were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). A facile, rationalized synthetic route for the isolation of 1a and 2a could be e…

Thiphenylmethane based structural fragments as building blocks towards solution-processable heteroleptic iridium(iii) complexes for OLED use

2019

A novel structural approach to solution-processable heteroleptic iridium(III) complexes is presented. On the basis of 2-arylbenzo[d]thiazole cyclometalating main ligands and picolinic acid (pic) and acetylacetone (acac) ancillary ligands six new yellow or orange emitting materials were obtained using attached 1,1,1-triphenylmethylpentane substituents as aggregation preventing and solubility enhancing functional fragments. The obtained compounds show high photoluminescence quantum yield values in the range of 0.64 to 0.90. OLEDs with a spin-coated emissive layer were successfully prepared, with the highest achieved external quantum efficiency of 7.9%, current efficiency of 12.4 cd A−1 and po…

Observation of novel oxygen⋯oxygen interaction in supramolecular assembly of cobalt(III) Schiff base complexes: a combined experimental and computati…

2015

Two mononuclear cobalt(III) Schiff base complexes with azide [Co(L)(N3)(L0 )] (1) and [Co(L)(N3)(L00)] (2) {where HL ¼ 1-((2-(diethylamino)ethylimino)methyl)naphthalene-2-ol, HL0 ¼ 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and HL00 ¼ acetylacetone} have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Both complexes show mononuclear structures with azide as terminal coligand. Structural features have been examined in detail that reveal the formation of interesting supramolecular networks generated through non-covalent forces including hydrogen bonding, C–H/H–C and C–H/p interactions. These interactions have been studied ener…

The oligomerisation of 3-hydroxy-1-alkynes with palladium(II) diketonates and phosphorus ligands as the catalytic system

1993

Abstract 3-Methylhex-1-yne-3-ol has been oligomerised by use of Pd(II) acetylacetonate with 31 different phosphorus ligands as catalyst, yielding a dimer (2,4-disubstituted but-1-en-3-yne) and a linear trimer (1,4,6-trisubstituted hexa-1,3-dien-5-yne) as the two main products. By input-output relations a variation of the diketonate and the P ligand, as weil as an alteration of the phosphorus/palladium ratio, has been connected with product ratios as dependent variables. Phosphines produced three association steps up to a cone angle of 170°; the third step representing a stop complex. For the first association the activity of the catalytic system and the portion of the 2,4-dimer increased wi…

A theoretical study of carbon-carbon bond formation by a Michael-type addition.

2012

A theoretical study of the Michael-type addition of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds to α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds has been performed in the gas phase by means of the AM1 semiempirical method and by density functional theory (DFT) calculations within the B3LYP and M06-2X hybrid functionals. A molecular model has been selected to mimic the role of a base, which is traditionally used as a catalyst in Michael reactions, an acetate moiety to modulate its basicity, and point charges to imitate the stabilization of the negative charge developed in the substrate during the reaction when taking place in enzymatic environments. Results of the study of six different reactions obtained at the three di…

Chemistry of lanthanide–metal carbonyl systems: the ytterbium–chromium carbonyls interaction

2001

Abstract The interaction of the chromium carbonyl hydrides HCr2(CO)10− or HCr(CO)5− with Yb(acac)3·3H2O has been investigated, and the experimental conditions leading to the isolation of ytterbium–chromium carbonyl complex species are reported. Formulation of the coordination compounds produced by such interactions has been proposed on the basis of analytical data and IR spectroscopy.
