The effects of an 8-year individualised lifestyle intervention on food consumption and nutrient intake from childhood to adolescence: the PANIC Study.
2021
Abstract We aimed to investigate the effects of a long-term, individualised, family-based lifestyle intervention on food consumption and nutrient intake from childhood to adolescence. We conducted an 8-year diet and physical activity intervention study in a population sample of children aged 7–9 years at baseline in 2007–2009. We allocated the participants to the intervention group (n 306) and the control group (n 198). We assessed diet by 4-d food records at baseline, 2-year follow-up and 8-year follow-up. We analysed the data using linear mixed-effects models adjusted for age at baseline and sex. The consumption of vegetables and vegetable oil-based spreads (fat ≥60 %) increased in the in…
Adolescents’ musical relaxation: understanding related affective processing
2017
Music listening promotes adolescents’ well-being and relaxation in daily life. Relaxation is linked to affective self-regulation, but little is known about the specific affective processes of musical relaxation. A qualitative study with 55 adolescents (42 girls, 13 boys), aged 15, was conducted. Participants listened to self-selected relaxation music for 20 min, once in a laboratory and once at home, and provided written descriptions of their experience. A total of 110 episode descriptions …

Two hundred and fifty-four adolescents from eight schools in the Valencian Community and aged between 9 and 16 years participated in the study. The ad…

Thyroid function was assessed by testing TSH and free T4 levels. A subgroup of women with TSH levels2.5mIU/L underwent additional tests (TSH, free T4, peroxidase antibodies). Information on dietary iodine intake and/or iodine supplements was also recorded.Mean TSH level was 1.89mIU/L (range 0.024-6.48mIU…

Trisomy 12 and translocation (7;9) in an ovarian immature teratoma.
1989
We report a case of an immature malignant ovarian teratoma with peritoneal implants diagnosed in an 18-year-old woman. The tumor was brought into remission after surgery (three laparotomies) and adjuvant chemotherapy. A residual peritoneal implant showed a mature epithelial and glial configuration. Histologically, the neuroectodermal component was dominant in the original tumor as well as in the metastases, being confirmed by immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy. A stem cell line has been obtained with cell culture, having a germ cell character and a yolk sac configuration. This line possessed a trisomy 12 and a translocation (7;9) similar to other chromosomal abnormalities describe…
