In murine colonic circular muscle, ATP mediates fast component of the nerve-evoked inhibitory junction potentials, via activation of P2Y receptors and opening of apamin-sensitive Ca2+-dependent K+ channels. We investigated, using microelectrode recordings, the intracellular events following P2Y-receptor activation by electrical field stimulation or by adenosine 5'-O-2-thiodiphosphate (ADPbetaS), ATP stable analogue. Depressive-like symptoms in a reserpine-induced model of fibromyalgia in rats.

Since the pathogenesis of fibromyalgia is unknown, treatment options are limited, ineffective and in fact based on symptom relief. A recently proposed rat model of fibromyalgia is based on central depletion of monamines caused by reserpine administration. This model showed widespread musculoskeletal pain and depressive-like symptoms, but the methodology used to measure such symptoms has been criticized. Evidence relates the high prevalence of pain and depression in fibromyalgia to common pathogenic pathways, most probably focused on the monoaminergic system. Noradrenaline depleting and blood pressure lowering activity of threo-corbadrine

Abstract Threo-corbadrine caused a long-lasting depletion of noradrenaline in the heart and in mesenteric vessels and lowered the blood pressure of normal and renal hypertensive rats. It is suggested that threo-cobadrine decreases vascular tone by acting peripherally as a substitute adrenergic transmitter.

Abstract Introduction Prune belly syndrome (PBS) presents with large-capacity bladders, high compliance and post-void residual volumes. Operative and conservative treatments are controversial. When histologically compared to normal bladder, bladder outlet obstruction results in an up- or down-regulation of adrenoceptors.
