Website design and e-consumer: effects and responses

2007

This research is focused on the study of the effects of different web layouts ? related to navigational structure and presentation of products ? on internal and behavioural consumer responses within an online shopping situation. Moreover, in our model we have introduced two types of variables ? involvement and atmospheric responsiveness ? which mediate the relationships between the constructs analysed. A website and a tracking behaviour methodology for a fictitious apparel retailer have been developed in order to carry out a 2?2 between-subjects experimental study. Our results show that if web marketers design stores without restrictive navigation cues (offering, in consequence, freedom of …

The Image of Spain as Tourist Destination Built Through Fictional Cinema

2008

Fictional cinema is one of the cultural agents that shapes the international image of each country. It colonizes spectators’ imagery, and it can influence their choice of tourist destinations. Spanish cinema’s international diffusion has allowed the exhibition of movies that spread and renew the image of Spain in different ways. In this respect, we propose a three-fold typology of films focusing our attention on their content and the ways in which they build the image of Spain: Icon Films, Pastiche Films, and Tourist Poster Films. These films may stimulate the increase of a cultural tourism very different from the traditional one that inspired many to come to Spain mainly looking for sunny …

Analyzing the Impact of Culture on Average Time Spent on Social Networking Sites

2014

The study examines the influence of national culture on national averages of time spent (ATS) visiting the largest social networking sites (SNSs): Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The analysis uses cultural dimensions adopted from both the works of Hofstede and Schwartz, while controlling for country e-readiness and median population age. The findings suggest that culture's influence may be moderated by the media richness and type of network focus of each SNS. Overall, in rich-media SNSs, egalitarianism positively impacts ATS. Individualism and masculinity only impact ATS on friendship-oriented SNSs. Additionally, uncertainty avoidance and intellectual autonomy only impact ATS on profession…

Brand love in progress – the interdependence of brand love antecedents in consideration of relationship duration

2015

Purpose – This paper aims to investigate the dynamic nature of consumer–brand relationships and, in particular, the passionate dimension of brand love. It explores the relevance of the two dimensions of the identification construct (inner and social self) for the creation of passionate love for a brand. More precisely, it attends to the possible mediating character of identification between the perceived utilitarian or hedonic value and passionate brand love. These effects are analysed in consideration of the moderating effect of relationship duration taking a further-reaching perspective and contributing to the understanding of the transformation of the brand love construct within a long-…

2013

Abstract This paper links findings from research on different age types to branding literature, and adds insight into how to rejuvenate a brand through the use of endorsers in advertisements. The article addresses the yet under-represented value of demographic characteristics of endorsers in affecting brand perception, and introduces the importance of the existence and strength of individual mental images of typical brand users in the process of such association transfers. Based on theoretical perspectives from personality transfer, (social) categorization, imagery, and advertising literature, the study proposes and tests several conditions for which age association transfer from endorser t…

Consumers' brand heritage experience: between acceptance and resistance

2020

International audience; The literature dedicated to heritage experience and brand heritage defends the idea that it is a source of significant value creation for consumers and brands. In consequence, this research examines the features of a brand heritage experience through extended case studies in two brand museums with narratives of 47 visitors. By unpacking a brand heritage experience, the study highlights it…
