Keggin heteropolyacid supported on BN and C3N4: Comparison between catalytic and photocatalytic alcohol dehydration
2020
The Keggin heteropolyacid (HPA), H3PW12O40 (PW12) has been supported on commercial boron nitride (BN) and two types of home prepared carbon nitride (C3N4). The supported PW12 was used in the gas-solid (photo)catalytic 2-propanol dehydration reaction to give propene at atmospheric pressure and temperatures in the range 70–120 °C and resulted more active than the pristine PW12. Reaction rate increased by increasing the temperature. Noticeably, the propene formation rate was higher by irradiating the catalytic system. The PW12/BN material resulted more active than PW12/C3N4. The acidity of the HPA cluster accounts for the catalytic role, whereas both the acidity and the redox properties of the…

Ferromagnetic coupled μ-phenoxo-μ-carboxylato heterodinuclear complexes based on the Cr(salen) moiety: Structural and magnetic characterization
2009
The synthesis, crystal structure, and magneto-chemical characterization of two new unprecedented μ-phenoxo-μ-carboxylato heterodinuclear complexes based on the Cr(salen) moiety (salen = N,N′-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine), [MII(O2C(CH3)3)(OH2)2(μ-O2C(CH3)3)(μ-salen)CrIII(O2C(CH3)3)], M = Ni (2), Co(3) are reported. The dinuclear complexes were obtained starting from the mononuclear trans-[Cr(salen)(CN)2]PPh4 (1), whose crystal structure is also reported. They show a trans arrangement of the Cr(salen) unit, bridging through the phenolate O atoms to a second metal center. An additional μ2-O2-carboxylato bridge and a further monodentating carboxylate ligand complete the roughly octahedral C…
In Vitro Evaluation of Enteric-Coated HPMC Capsules—Effect of Formulation Factors on Product Performance
2020
A comparative study on different enteric-coated hard capsules was performed. The influence of different formulation factors like choice of enteric polymer, triethyl citrate (TEC) concentration (plasticizer), talc concentrations (anti-tacking agent), and different coating process parameters on the sealing performance of the capsule and the disintegration time were investigated. Furthermore, the influence of different disintegration test methods (with disc vs. without disc and 50 mM U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP) buffer pH 6.8 vs. biopredictive 15 mM phosphate buffer pH 6.5) was evaluated. All formulations showed sufficient but not equivalent acid resistance when tested. Polymer type was the main f…
Partial substitution of fish meal with vegetable protein sources in a diet for sea bass: effects on lipogenesis
2005
Three isoproteic (49.4%) and isolipidic (17.0%) diets were prepared: A control diet FM, in which protein was derived from fish meal and two experimental diets in which 70% of the fish meal protein was substituted with wheat gluten meal (WGM) or wheat gluten meal plus soybean meal (WGMsb), respectively. The essential limiting amino acids were added to satisfy the requirements of the species (Tibaldi et al., 1996). Three hundred and fifteen sea bass (initial weight = 23.9±0. 1g )were randomly divided into nine homogenous groups. The animals were reared in a closed recirculation system at 23.9 ◦ C and were fed ad libitum twice a day for 96 days. The fish were weighed at the beginning and the e…
Genetic organization of the citCDEF locus and identification of mae and clyR genes from Leuconostoc mesenteroides.
1999
ABSTRACT In this paper, we describe two open reading frames coding for a NAD-dependent malic enzyme ( mae ) and a putative regulatory protein ( clyR ) found in the upstream region of citCDEFG of Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. cremoris 195. The transcriptional analysis of the citrate lyase locus revealed one polycistronic mRNA covering the mae and citCDEF genes. This transcript was detected only on RNA prepared from cells grown in the presence of citrate. Primer extension experiments suggest that clyR and the citrate lyase operon are expressed from a bidirectional A-T-rich promoter region located between mae and clyR.
Acid sensitivity of neomycin-resistant mutants ofOenococcus oeni: a relationship between reduction of ATPase activity and lack of malolactic activity
1999
Mutants of Oenococcus oeni were isolated as spontaneous neomycin-resistant mutants. Three of these mutants harbored a significantly reduced ATPase activity that represented 50% of that of the wild-type strain. Their growth rates were also impaired at pH 5.3 (46-86% of the wild-type level). However, the profiles of sugar consumption appeared identical to those of the parental strain. At pH 3.2, all the mutant strains failed to grow and a drastic decrease in viability was observed after an acid shock. Surprisingly, all the isolated mutants were devoid of malolactic activity. These results suggest that the ATPase and malolactic activities of O. oeni are linked to each other and play a crucial …
Effect of cooking on oxalate content of pulses using an enzymatic procedure.
2003
An enzymatic method proposed for the determination of oxalate in urine is adapted for the estimation of soluble oxalate content in beans, chickpeas and lentils. Oxalates were extracted in water by refluxing for 2 h. The method is based on the oxidation of oxalate by the oxidase and the determination of the resulting hydrogen peroxide, which in presence of peroxidase, 3-methyl-2 benzotiazinolone and 3-dimethylamino benzoic, gives an indamine compound with an absorption maximum at 590 nm. The linearity (from 0.015 to 0.6 mM) of the method is adequate to the analysis of oxalate contents in pulses, and the inter-day precision of the method expressed as relative standard deviation was good (3.01…
ChemInform Abstract: First Reactions of 2,2′-Bisindolyls with Electrophilic Azo Compounds and Diethyl Mesoxalate.
2010
Conformations and some electronic properties of the 2,2′-bisindolyls 6 were calculated for the prediction of probable Diels-Alder reactivity, in analogy to previous work on 2-vinylindoles. First reactions with dienophiles revealed that compounds 6 did not participate in [4 + 2]cycloadditions but rather underwent simple electrophilic substitutions at the enamine function with, above all, some heterodienophiles.
