effect of the extraction of proteins from hemp press-cakes on their functionalities
2019
Plant proteins are a coherent option to feed the planet while limiting global warming. Common proteins (wheat, soya and maize) will soon no longer be sufficient to meet the increased demand for proteins. This thesis focuses on the development of a new source of plant protein for human consumption, based on a co-product of the oil mill: hemp proteins from press-cake. To meet this objective, the three main lines of action are: the definition of extraction conditions, the study of the physico-chemical properties of the isolates extracted under the defined conditions and the study of their emulsifying properties. The data in the literature on the extraction of hemp proteins are limited and not …
Biotic homogenisation in bird communities leads to large‐scale changes in species associations
2021
The impact of global change on biodiversity is commonly assessed in terms of changes in species distributions, community richness and community composition. Whether and how much associations between species are also changing is much less documented. In this study, we quantify changes in large-scale patterns of species associations in bird communities in relation to changes in species composition. We use network approaches to build three community-aggregated indices reflecting complementary aspects of species association networks. We characterise the spatio–temporal dynamics of these indices using a large-scale and high-resolution dataset of bird co-abundances of 109 species monitored for 17…
Impact du système endocannabinoïdien sur la physiologie de l'obésité : effets de l'antagonisme des récepteurs CB1 sur le métabolisme glucido-lipidiqu…
2010
The endocannabinoïd system (ECS) is involved in many biological functions such as regulation of energy metabolism. Recently, several studies have shown an association between obesity and ECS overactivity. In addition, specific CB1R antagonists such as Rimonabant (SR141716) improved metabolic parameters in obese patients essentially through inactivation of central CB1R. However, peripheral CB1R inactivation could also contribute to the improvement of these parameters and it is this notion that we have studied. To this purpose, we tested the effects of SR141716 on obese mice in order to establish relationships between the ECS activity and lipid metabolism by looking more specifically to its r…
Cannabinoid ligands sorting out by a 3D-QSAR approach using catalyst/hypogen
2009
National audience; Understanding how molecular structures are involved in recognition by a biological receptor is a decisive step in drug design, and could constitute an intricate problem because of existence of several binding sites, as is the case of GPCRs (1) that constitute the largest class of membrane receptors. In this context, identification of pharmacophores that should differentiate multiple binding modes is of particular interest. We have recently applied to ligands of a human olfactory receptor an original sorting-out procedure carried out using Catalyst/HypoGen software (Accelrys Ltd) (2). We aimed to validate this sorting out procedure using literature data, and in this way, w…
Kustannuslaskenta ja avoin hinnoittelu lisäarvoa tuottavana palveluna molemmin puolin monopolistisessa partnerisuhteessa
2017
Effects of density, species interactions, and environmental stochasticity on the dynamics of British bird communities
2022
Our knowledge of the factors affecting species abundances is mainly based on time-series analyses of a few well-studied species at single or few localities, but we know little about whether results from such analyses can be extrapolated to the community level. We apply a joint species distribution model to long-term time-series data on British bird communities to examine the relative contribution of intra- and interspecific density dependence at different spatial scales, as well as the influence of environmental stochasticity, to spatiotemporal interspecific variation in abundance. Intraspecific density dependence has the major structuring effect on these bird communities. In addition, envi…
DNA sequence baits targeting ultra-conserved elements in marine invertebrates
2022
This dataset includes four files of DNA sequence baits targeted to ultra-conserved elements (UCEs) identified from four different taxonomic groups of marine invertebrates: Annelida, Bivalvia, Gastropoda and Crustacea. UCE loci are genomic regions of high conservation that can be found throughout the genomes that can be extracted from the genome and sequenced for use in phylogenetic, phylogeographic and population genetic analyses. The UCE loci were located by aligning a minimum of five species’ genomes to a base genome in each taxonomic group and searching for overlapping highly conserved areas. The UCE baits were designed with screening coverage of 4X using the pipeline phyluce v. 1.6.6 (h…
The influence of yeast glycosylated proteins on tannins aggregation in model solution
2004

The incidence of glycosylated yeast proteins on tannins aggregation in model solution was investigated using the spectrophotometric method (absorbance 700 nm). Glycosylated proteins released by two commercial Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains (RC212 and BM 45) during alcoholic fermentation in synthetic media, glycosylated proteins extracted by Peat’s method and industrial glycosylated proteins purified and separated by chromatography on Sepharose Concanavalin A were used to visualize effects on tannins aggregation. Results showed that tannins aggregation was limited by the glycosylated proteins according to their origin and their mod…
Cell Envelopes of Methanogens
2010
Methanogens play an important role in the global carbon cycle, because they are involved in the last step of anaerobic degradation of organic material to methane. Although the first report on methane emanation from aquatic muds was given by Alessandro Volta in the year 1776, the first methanogen was not obtained in pure culture before 1947. Special culture techniques had to be developed for growing the strict anaerobic methanogenic isolates. The methanogens were the first species of the archaeal domain (Archaea) detected. Their unique biochemical and genetic properties have stimulated basic investigations of this microbial group in the last three decades. The methanogenic Archaea possess a …
