This article presents the history of one of the largest Polish cemeteries in the Eastern Borderlands. Thousands of Poles, including artists, poets, writers, sculptors, prominent politicians, local government officials and soldiers fighting for Polish independence in various uprisings, were buried in the Sapieżyński Cemetery during its 200-year-long history. The necropolis was closed down by the Soviet authorities in 1980, and the entire area was bulldozed. Crushed tombstones were transported outside the city, and a theater building and a hotel were developed on the site. La bande dessinée espagnole de l’après-franquisme, à contre-courant de tous les autres secteurs de l’édition depuis 20 ans, n’a jamais témoigné d’un grand intérêt pour le sujet de la Guerre civile qui a déchiré l’Espagne entre 1936 et 1939. Autre sujet d’étonnement, les représentations qu’elle a pu en faire s’opposent radicalement au schéma classique et attendu de la bande dessinée d’aventure qui exalte la figure du héros de guerre. Purification and identification of chlorophyll c1 from the green alga Mantoniella squamata

Abstract The prasinophycean alga Mantoniella squamata contains besides chlorophyll a and b a third chlorophyll c -like pigment in its light-harvesting antenna. This third chlorophyll was purified by reverse phase and polyethylene chromatography in order to identify its chemical structure. The absorption and fluorescence spectra were measured not only from the doubly purified pigment, but also from its Mg-free derivates. The spectra were compared with those of authentic chlorophyll c and of Mg-2,4-desethyl-2,4-divinylpheoporphyrin a 5 monomethyl ester which was isolated from Rhodobacter capsulata .
