WRKY gene family drives dormancy release in onion bulbs

Onion (Allium cepa L.) is an important bulb crop grown worldwide. Dormancy in bulbous plants is an important physiological state mainly regulated by a complex gene network that determines a stop of vegetative growth during unfavorable seasons. Limited knowledge on the molecular mechanisms that regulate dormancy in onion were available until now. Increased dosage of Ink4/Arf protects against glucose intolerance and insulin resistance associated with aging

Recent genome-wide association studies have linked type-2 diabetes mellitus to a genomic region in chromosome 9p21 near the Ink4/Arf locus, which encodes tumor suppressors that are up-regulated in a variety of mammalian organs during aging. However, it is unclear whether the susceptibility to type-2 diabetes is associated with altered expression of the Ink4/Arf locus. The types of instability in the interacting binary stars are briefly reviewed. The project “Inter-Longitude Astronomy” is a series of smaller projects on concrete stars or groups of stars. It has no special funds, and is supported from resources and grants of participating organizations, when informal working groups are created. This “ILA” project is in some kind similar and complementary to other projects like WET, CBA, UkrVO, VSOLJ, BRNO, MEDUZA, AstroStatistics, where many of us collaborate. A giant planet beyond the snow line in microlensing event OGLE-2011-BLG-0251

We present the analysis of the gravitational microlensing event OGLE-2011-BLG-0251. This anomalous event was observed by several survey and follow-up collaborations conducting microlensing observations towards the Galactic Bulge. Based on detailed modelling of the observed light curve, we find that the lens is composed of two masses with a mass ratio q=1.9 x 10^-3. Thanks to our detection of higher-order effects on the light curve due to the Earth's orbital motion and the finite size of source, we are able to measure the mass and distance to the lens unambiguously. Remote sensing is a key tool for precision agriculture applications as it is capable of capturing spatial and temporal variations in crop status. However, satellites often have an inadequate spatial resolution for precision agriculture applications. High-resolution Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) imagery can be obtained at flexible dates, but operational costs may limit the collection frequency. Dynamiczna metoda przesunięć udziałów uwzględnia zmienność wag w kolejnych okresach. Metoda ta została zaproponowana w 1988 przez Barffa i Knighta. Ideą metody jest przeprowadzenie w sposób rekurencyjny obliczeń dla każdych dwóch kolejnych okresów, aby ostatecznie dokonać agregacji wyników cząstkowych. Dodatkowo metoda ta pozwala na określenie tendencji w zakresie przemian gospodarki regionalnej. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie analizy składników zmiany i możliwości jej wykorzystania do diagnostyki potencjału produkcyjnego rolnictwa regionu, a w szczególności wskazanie obiektów wyspecjalizowanych oraz charakteru zmian strukturalnych w zakresie badanego zjawiska.
