Melting temperature prediction by thermoelastic instability: An ab initio modelling, for periclase (MgO)

Abstract Melting temperature (TM) is a crucial physical property of solids and plays an important role for the characterization of materials, allowing us to understand their behavior at non-ambient conditions. Corrosion of Welded Metal Structures of Mining Equipment

Mining equipment made of welded metal structures is strongly affected by the corrosion phenomenon due to the working conditions. Initial research has shown that the corrosion phenomenon is most pronounced in the area of cross-welded joints and welded T-shaped joints. Validation of a 3D mathematical model for feed rod melting during floating zone Si crystal growth

Abstract A mathematical model of global 3D heat transfer in floating zone silicon single crystal growth process is used to predict the shape of the open melting front of the feed rod. The model is validated using measurement data from research-scale growth experiments. Shape profiles of the open melting front are obtained from the feed rod leftover using a movable dial gauge. Azimuthal asymmetry of the rim of the open melting front is revealed in both simulations and measurements, quantitatively indicating the influence of the main slit of the inductor.

Experimental Investigation of Efficiency Map for an Inverter-Fed Surface-Mount Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Losses in inverter-fed permanent magnet motors are underestimated by using analytical or numerical approach since additional losses due to extra harmonics of the frequency converter are normally skipped. Further, losses in switches and passive components of the converter and the effect of switching frequencies cannot be numerically taken into consideration. Loss-minimizing control and proper efficiency analysis of inverter-fed permanent magnet motors cannot be achieved if an efficiency map is built based on a numerical investigation of the motors alone. A Simple Approach for Determination of Numerical Values of Ferrite Nonlinear Susceptibilities

This article presents a straightforward approach for determination of numerical values of nonlinear susceptibilities of soft magnetic ferrites. It is shown that numerical values of susceptibilities can be calculated from the measured amplitudes of harmonics in the output voltage of ferrite core transformer. For this purpose, useful expressions for the susceptibilities are derived and as example, numerical values of the largest nonlinear susceptibilities those of the third and fifth orders are calculated. Numerical values of MnZn ferrite nonlinear susceptibilities in a lossless approximation

On the basis of expressions for nonlinear magnetic susceptibilities of soft ferrites obtained earlier the analysis of phase shifts between components of flux density on different frequencies and the magnetic field strength is carried out. Only the largest nonlinear susceptibilities those of third and fifth order are considered. It is shown that in the frequency range where losses are small and can be neglected the susceptibility of third order is negative but that of fifth order is positive. This article presents a permanent magnet planar translational generator which is able to exploit multiple modes of sea wave energy extraction.
