We investigated long-term (18 years) effects of three organic (cow manure (CM), poultry manure (PM), compost from agro-industry orange wastes (OW)) and one inorganic fertilization (IF) on various soil biological indicators (microbial biomass C, soil respiration, total phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs), total bacteria, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi) and nutrient contents (total and extractable organic C, total and mineral N, available P and K) along the profile of a Typic Haplustept under orange Mediterranean orchards. One of the elements of the process of modernization of the two armies of the Poland in the second and third decade of the eighteenth century was an attempt to improve the quality of the officers' staff.However, it took place only in the foreign part of the crown. In the years 1717-1724, its corps of officers was filled by a large group, over 100 officers, who possessed some professional experience of military service in the armies of Western Europe, primarily in Saxony. This undoubtedly contributed to the loyalty of this officer corps to the king, but did not lead to the strengthening of the military capabilities of the Polish army.

Those troops were frequently critical of their leaders, suspicious of their officers, and dangerous to soldiers and civilians alike; but this is not quite the whole story. W trakcie XIX-wiecznych kasat klasztorów na obszarze cesarstwa rosyjskiego względy ekonomiczne stanowił istotny, może najważniejszy, ale niejedyny czynnik, uwzględniany przy podejmowaniu decyzji o zniesieniu domu zakonnego. Oficjalnie władze rosyjskie głosiły, że cały majątek klasztorny miał być wykorzystany na utrzymanie szkół oraz instytucji opiekuńczych i charytatywnych. W pierwszych dwóch dekadach XVIII w. dokonał się proces modernizacji wojskowości polsko-litewskiej. Przede wszystkim unowocześniono wyposażenie oddziałów dragonii i piechoty wprowadzając do uzbrojenia karabiny skałkowe (flint lock), wzorowane na armii saskiej pałasze i szpady, jednolite sorty mundurów, a także sprzęt „obozowy”. Ustanowiono także nowe schematy organizacyjne regimentów piechoty. Działania modernizacyjne zakończono wkrótce po 1717 r., choć nie wprowadzono wszystkich koniecznych i częściowo zapowiedzianych w uchwałach sejmu niemego zmian. The article discusses source materials for history o f Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth Dietines, found in archival legacy o f Ludwig Gruno, Prince o f Hesse-Homburg. The documents are part o f field chancellery o f the prince, currently preserved in the Military-Historical Museum of Engineer and Signal Corps in St. Petersburg among over a thousand of letters, documents and files illustrating his achievements as commander o f Russian armies in the Caucasus and Poland in 1732-1736.
