The voice of a heterodox authority on love in the First Francoism. Amparo Rivelles’ sentimental advice columns

2021

Determination of promethazine hydrochloride with bromophenol blue by a turbidimetric method and flow injection analysis

1992

Abstract A flow injection analysis procedure for the turbidimetric determination of promethazine is proposed. The sample solution is injected directly into the carrier reagent stream, which is composed of 1.16 × 10 −3 M bromophenol blue at pH 1.20. The calibration graph is linear over the range 25–197 ppm of promethazine. The influence of some foreign substances was also investigated. The method is applied to promethazine determination in a pharmaceutical formulation.

Cerium(IV) arsenite as a solid-phase reactor for use in flow-injection analysis. Spectrophotometric determination of promethazine

1992

Abstract Cerium(IV) arsenite is used as a strongly oxidizing solid-phase reactor in an unsegmented continuous-flow injection assembly. Its preparation procedure produces particles of uniform size with suitable physico-chemical properties for use in a continuous-flow system. A manifold is proposed for the determination of promethazine in pharmaceutical preparations by spectrophotometric monitoring of the red colour produced by the oxidized drug. A linear calibration graph is obtained over the range 5–400 μg ml −1 of promethazine.

Spectrophotometric determination of promethazine by flow injection analysis and oxidation by CeIV

1992

A flow injection analysis (FIA) procedure is proposed for the determination of promethazine. The sample solution is directly injected into the carrier-reagent stream which comprises a solution of ceric ions in a sulphuric acid medium. The absorbance at 514 nm from the red colour developed by the oxidation of promethazine is measured. Effects of foreign substances have been investigated and the procedure has been applied to the determination of promethazine in a pharmaceutical formulation (tablets).

Continuous-Flow Synthesis of Ni(0) Nanoparticles Using a Cone Channel Nozzle or a Micro Coaxial-Injection Mixer

2015

To synthesize nickel(0) nanoparticles by wet chemical reduction using hydrazine with an average size distribution below 100 nm, two different reactor concepts were developed. With a cone channel nozzle, the reactant solutions were sprayed into a batch for further processing and reduction at elevated temperatures. Another concept uses a micro-coaxial injection mixer connected to a heated tube to establish a fully continuously operating reactor. To shorten the time for reduction of the nickel, salt temperatures up to 180 °C are applied. To avoid uncontrolled residence time, the whole system was pressurized up to 80 bar. Approximately 80 L reactant solution, i.e., 1 kg nickel(0) nanoparticles,…

Identification of P-glycoprotein substrates and inhibitors among psychoactive compounds--implications for pharmacokinetics of selected substrates.

2004

Abstract The pharmacokinetics of antipsychotic drugs has become an integral part in understanding their pharmacodynamic activity and clinical effects. In addition to metabolism aspects, carrier-mediated transport, particularly secretion by ABC transporters, has been discussed as potentially relevant for this group of therapeutics. In this study, the psychoactive compounds perphenazine, flupentixol, domperidone, desmethyl clozapine, haloperidol, fluphenazine, fluvoxamine, olanzapine, levome-promazine, perazine, desmethyl perazine, clozapine, quetiapine and amisulpride were characterized in terms of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) affinity and transport. Experimental methods involved a radioligand disp…

Antidepressants and Antipsychotic Drugs Colocalize with 5-HT(3) Receptors in Raft-Like Domains

2005

Despite different chemical structure and pharmacodynamic signaling pathways, a variety of antidepressants and antipsychotics inhibit ion fluxes through 5-HT3receptors in a noncompetitive manner with the exception of the known competitive antagonists mirtazapine and clozapine. To further investigate the mechanisms underlying the noncompetitive inhibition of the serotonin-evoked cation current, we quantified the concentrations of different types of antidepressants and antipsychotics in fractions of sucrose flotation gradients isolated from HEK293 (human embryonic kidney 293) cells stably transfected with the 5-HT3Areceptor and of N1E-115 neuroblastoma cells in relation to the localization of …

Synthetic O-glycopeptides as model substrates for glycosyltransferases

1993

Abstract A new approach to O-glycopeptides of the glucosamine type is described. N-Urethane protected, peracetylated glucosamine is converted into its 1-thio (1-bromo) derivative and used for glycosylation of a variety of protected serine or threonine derivatives as acceptors. The urethane group is easily exchanged for the natural N-acetyl moiety and O-deacetylation is achieved with hydrazine/methanol. The resulting O-GlcNAc derivatives are subjected to an enzymatic galactosylation procedure using β-1,4-galactosyltransferase (EC 2.4.1.22) to furnish O-glycopeptides of the neolactosamine type.
