Hurwitz spaces of Galois coverings of P1, whose Galois groups are Weyl groups
2006
Abstract We prove the irreducibility of the Hurwitz spaces which parametrize equivalence classes of Galois coverings of P 1 , whose Galois group is an arbitrary Weyl group, and the local monodromies are reflections. This generalizes a classical theorem due to Luroth, Clebsch and Hurwitz.
The p-Laplacian with respect to measures
2013
We introduce a definition for the $p$-Laplace operator on positive and finite Borel measures that satisfy an Adams-type embedding condition.
Maximal regularity for Kolmogorov operators in L2 spaces with respect to invariant measures
2006
Abstract We prove an optimal embedding result for the domains of Kolmogorov (or degenerate hypoelliptic Ornstein–Uhlenbeck) operators in L 2 spaces with respect to invariant measures. We use an interpolation method together with optimal L 2 estimates for the space derivatives of T ( t ) f near t = 0 , where T ( t ) is the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck semigroup and f is any function in L 2 .
Embedding of analytic function spaces with given mean growth of the derivative
2006
MSC (2000) 30D55 If φ is a positive function defined in (0,1) and 0 <p< ∞, we consider the space L(p, φ) which consists of all functions f analytic in the unit disc D for which the integral means of the derivative Mp(r, f )= " 1 2π Rπ −π þ f (re iθ ) þ p dθ "1/p , 0 <r< 1, satisfy M p(r, f )=O (φ(r)) ,a sr → 1. In this paper, for any given p ∈ (0,1), we characterize the functions φ, among a certain class of weight functions, to be able to embedd L(p, φ) into classical function spaces. These results complement other previously obtained by the authors for p ≥ 1. c

Do the right thing! A study on social representation of obedience and disobedience
2014
Abstract The present research is aimed at investigating through a mixed-method approach the dimensions underlying the psychosocial constructs of obedience, disobedience and the relations between them. To this end, we consider the attitudes toward (dis)obedience being socially constructed, and we chose the theory of social representations (Abric, 2003; Moscovici, 1961) as the theoretical framework of this study. The data, collected on a sample of 190 individuals, allowed us to define these social objects, reducing both their complexity and polysemy. Obedience and disobedience were both seen by research participants as context-dependent behaviours, neither positive nor negative, per se . Also…
MAC-Engine
2011
In this demo, we prove that the flexibility supported by off-the-shelf IEEE 802.11 hardware can be significantly extended if we move the control of the MAC programming interface from the driver to the firmware, i.e. from the host CPU to the card CPU. To this purpose, we introduce the concept of MAC--Engine, that is an executor of Programmable Finite State Machines (PFSM) implemented at the firmware level: we show how the card itself can support different protocol logics thanks to PFSM bytecode representations that can be dynamically injected inside the card memory at run-time without incurring in down time issues or network disconnect events. We provide different PFSM examples in order to t…
A real-time non-intrusive FPGA-based drowsiness detection system
2011
Automotive has gained several benefits from the Ambient Intelligent researches involving the deployment of sensors and hardware devices into an intelligent environment surrounding people, meeting users’ requirements and anticipating their needs. One of the main topics in automotive is to anticipate driver needs and safety, in terms of preventing critical and dangerous events. Considering the high number of caused accidents, one of the most relevant dangerous events affecting driver and passengers safety is driver’s drowsiness and hypovigilance. This paper presents a low-intrusive, real-time driver’s drowsiness detection system for common vehicles. The proposed system exploits the ‘‘bright p…
Recombinant cDNA encapsulation in small liposomes with hepatocyte access ability.
1993
Liposomal encapsulation efficiency of a recombinant cDNA was studied by several procedures. We observed that supernatant fraction of ultracentrifuged liposomes prepared by extrusion through polycarbonate filters of 400 nm pore size yielded a very homogeneous suspension of small (50 nm diameter) unilamellar liposomes with highest DNA/lipid ratio and great ability to access to hepatocytes.
Uso degli inibitori di pompa protonica in un Policlinico Universitario
2012
Summary Introduction Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are highly prescribed drugs in Italy and in particular in the Sicilian region but little is known about their use in the hospital setting. Materials and methods PPI utilization and related costs were reviewed retrospectively by examining the pharmaceutical records of drug dispensation to the various wards of the Policlinico Universitario P. Giaccone of Palermo in 2010. Differences in the prescribing rates and drug preferences among the different clinical wards were analyzed. Results A total of 20,420 patients were hospitalized at the Policlinico of Palermo in 2010. Overall, the consumption of PPIs was 120 DDD/100 bed-days for the year 2010 …
