Interpretive Challenges in Games
2018
This paper argues that these is a category of challenges often overlooked in game studies. It is here called "interpretive challenges" and it requires players to sort out contextual and ambiguous information.
A quantitative assessment of intraspecific morphological variation in Gahagan bifaces from the southern Caddo area and central Texas
2019
This investigation aggregates intact or reconstructed Gahagan bifaces from the southern Caddo area and central Texas to test the hypothesis that Gahagan biface morphology differs between the regions. The Gahagan bifaces (n = 102) were scanned, then analysed using a novel landmarking protocol and the tools of geometric morphometrics. Results provide a preview of the significant differences in Gahagan biface morphology expressed between the southern Caddo area and central Texas regions. The size discrepancy represents an inversion of current theoretical constructs that posit a decrease in tool size thought to articulate with an increase in distance from the raw material source. It is posited …
Garderobekultur blant jenter i kroppsøving : hvordan opplever jentene dusj- og garderobepraksisen i kroppsøvingsundervisningen på ungdomsskolen?
2016
Morphological Changes within the Rat Lateral Ventricle after the Administration of Proteasome Inhibitors.
2015
The broad variety of substances that inhibit the action of the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS)—known as proteasome inhibitors—have been used extensively in previous studies, and they are currently frequently proposed as a novel form of cancer treatment and as a protective factor in intracerebral hemorrhage treatment. The experimental data on the safest route of proteasome inhibitor administration, their associated side effects, and the possible ways of minimizing these effects have recently become a very important topic. The aim of our present study was to determine the effects of administering of MG-132, lactacystin and epoxomicin, compounds belonging to three different classes of protea…
Mitomycin C bei oberflächlichen Hornhautablationen mit dem Excimer-Laser: Eigene Erfahrungen und Literaturübersicht
2005
Haze formation with loss of corneal transparency and surface irregularities and myopic regression are the major complications after corneal refractive surface surgery. The use of mitomycin C (MMC) with its antibiotic and antineoplastic properties is intended to inhibit wound healing mechanisms leading to subepithelial fibrosis. We report the use of MMC to achieve visual rehabilitation in the re-treatment of 3 eyes of 2 patients following refractive corneal surgery. According to the literature, the local use of MMC 0.02 % for 2 minutes is safe and enables one to treat and prevent stromal haze and myopic regression and allows a reduction of the postoperative topical pharmacotherapy. Results a…
Isolation, Long-Term Expansion, and Differentiation of Murine Neural Stem Cells
2014
Stem cells are capable of extensive self-renewal while preserving the ability to generate cell progeny that can differentiate into different cell types. Here, we describe some methods for the isolation of neural stem cells (NSCs) from the adult murine subependymal zone (SEZ), their extensive culturing and the assessment of their full developmental potential, particularly with respect to their differentiation capacity. The procedure includes chemically defined conditions such as absence of serum and addition of specific growth factors, in which differentiated cells die and are rapidly eliminated from the culture. In contrast, undifferentiated precursors become hypertrophic and proliferate, f…
Effects of Socio-Structural Variables in the Theory of Planned Behavior: A Mediation Model in Multiple Samples and Behaviors
2020
Objective. Observed variation in health behavior may be attributable to socio-structural variables that represent inequality. We tested the hypothesis that variability related to socio-structural variables may be linked to variation in social cognition determinants of health behavior. A proposed model in which effects of socio-structural variables (age, education level, gender, income) on health behavior participation was mediated by social cognition constructs was tested. Design. Model effects were tested in correlational datasets (k=13) in different health behaviors, populations, and contexts. Samples included self-report measures of age, highest attained education level, gender, and net …

Redefining habits and linking habits with other implicit processes
2019
In their commentaries on Hagger (2019), Gardner, Rebar, and Lally (2019) and Phillips (2019) provide welcome debate on the conceptualization and operation of habits in physical activity. In this response, I extend their comments by (i) calling for a redefining of habits to encompass contemporary views of habit, and (ii) suggesting that descriptions of physical activity habits should make reference to their relations with other implicit constructs that reflect automatic processes. Specifically, I contend that extant definitions of habits for complex behaviors like physical activity should move away from definitions of unitary responses to specific cues or contexts, and, focus on ‘macro’ expr…
Portrait des jeunes NEET sur vingt ans : le cas des diplômé.e.s de CAP-BEP
2021
