On two questions from the Kourovka Notebook

Abstract The aim of this paper is to give answers to some questions concerning intersections of system normalisers and prefrattini subgroups of finite soluble groups raised by the third author, Shemetkov and Vasil'ev in the Kourovka Notebook [10] . Our approach depends on results on regular orbits and it can be also used to extend a result of Mann [9] concerning intersections of injectors associated to Fitting classes.

On two classes of finite supersoluble groups

ABSTRACTLet ℨ be a complete set of Sylow subgroups of a finite group G, that is, a set composed of a Sylow p-subgroup of G for each p dividing the order of G. A subgroup H of G is called ℨ-S-semipermutable if H permutes with every Sylow p-subgroup of G in ℨ for all p∉π(H); H is said to be ℨ-S-seminormal if it is normalized by every Sylow p-subgroup of G in ℨ for all p∉π(H). The main aim of this paper is to characterize the ℨ-MS-groups, or groups G in which the maximal subgroups of every Sylow subgroup in ℨ are ℨ-S-semipermutable in G and the ℨ-MSN-groups, or groups in which the maximal subgroups of every Sylow subgroup in ℨ are ℨ-S-seminormal in G.
Efficient generation of restricted growth words

A length n restricted growth word is a word w=w"1w"2...w"n over the set of integers where w"1=0 and each w"i, i>1, lies between 0 and the value of a word statistics of the prefix w"1w"2...w"i"-"1 of w, plus one. Restricted growth words simultaneously generalize combinatorial objects as restricted growth functions, staircase words and ascent or binary sequences. Here we give a generic generating algorithm for restricted growth words. It produces a Gray code and runs in constant average time provided that the corresponding statistics has some local properties.
Vertical versus horizontal Sobolev spaces

Let $\alpha \geq 0$, $1 < p < \infty$, and let $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ be the Heisenberg group. Folland in 1975 showed that if $f \colon \mathbb{H}^{n} \to \mathbb{R}$ is a function in the horizontal Sobolev space $S^{p}_{2\alpha}(\mathbb{H}^{n})$, then $\varphi f$ belongs to the Euclidean Sobolev space $S^{p}_{\alpha}(\mathbb{R}^{2n + 1})$ for any test function $\varphi$. In short, $S^{p}_{2\alpha}(\mathbb{H}^{n}) \subset S^{p}_{\alpha,\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R}^{2n + 1})$. Molecules of 5-Decyl-4,7,13,16,21-pentaoxa-1,10-diaza-bicyclo-[8.8.5.]tricosan (221D) and its sodium complex, with both a hydrophobic and a hydrophilic portion, are expected to form aggregates in water solutions. This was confirmed by surface tension measurements. The aggregation behaviour was studied by small-angle neutron scattering at two different [NaCl]/[221D] molar ratios, such as to obtain, in one case, aggregates entirely made up of ionic monomers, and in the other, mixed micelles constituted by both ionic and non-ionic units. Migration kinetics of ion-implanted beryllium in glassy carbon

Abstract Migration kinetics of low-concentration implanted 7 Be in glassy carbon has been studied by the modified radiotracer technique at temperatures 1285 °C and 1340 °C. The annealed sample concentration profiles show two distinctive components: (i) Main profile broadening assigned to beryllium trapping in defects during annealing. (ii) Tail parts on both sides of the profile maximum related to faster migration. Of the latter the profile representing bulk diffusion lies on the region free of defect influence and is well described by concentration-independent diffusivity. Abstract In several multiphase flow applications such as fluidization, thermal spraying, atomization manufacturing and so on, the Newton's law is widely enacted to formulate the particle/fluid kinematic interaction and then to compute particles kinematics. This paper provides analytical solutions of the Newton's law in its time-dependent formulation or simplified formulation, the latter being a reduction of the time dependent problem into a spatial description of the particle motion. The influence of AlN buffer over the polarity and the nucleation of self-organized GaN nanowires

We experimentally investigate the influence of AlN buffer growth on the nucleation and the polarity of a self-organized assembly of GaN nanowires (NWs) grown on Si. Two complementary growth mechanisms for AlN buffer deposited on Si are demonstrated. Both emphasize the aggregation of Si on the AlN surface and the growth of large cubic crystallites, namely, AlN pedestals. Further growths of GaN NWs assembly reveal that the GaN 2D layer found at the bottom of the NW assembly is the result of the coalescence of Ga-polar pyramids, whereas AlN pedestals are observed as preferential but not exclusive NW nucleation sites. Tailoring the anomalous Hall effect of SrRuO$_3$ thin films by strain: a first principles study

Motivated by the recently observed unconventional Hall effect in ultra-thin films of ferromagnetic SrRuO$_3$ (SRO) we investigate the effect of strain-induced oxygen octahedral distortion in the electronic structure and anomalous Hall response of the SRO ultra-thin films by virtue of density functional theory calculations. Our findings reveal that the ferromagnetic SRO films grown on SrTiO$_3$ (in-plane strain of $-$0.47$\%$) have an orthorhombic (both tilting and rotation) distorted structure and with an increasing amount of substrate-induced compressive strain the octahedral tilting angle is found to be suppressed gradually, with SRO films grown on NdGaO$_3$ (in-plane strain of $-$1.7$\%$…
