Factores facilitadores y barreras en la transición a la ciencia abierta: perspectiva de los agentes del sistema científico español
2022
This paper presents the results of a research study whose objective was to identify the facilitating factors and barriers that, in the opinion of representatives of the Spanish scientific community, impact the implementation of the new open science model in four areas: open access, open research data, research assessment and open peer review. A qualitative study was designed in which information was obtained through interviews with researchers, editors of scientific journals, representatives of assessment agencies and vice-chancellors, and through a focus group of librarians with expertise in aspects of open science. The enabling factors and barriers identified were related to the researche…

More Relevant Today Than Ever: Past, Present and Future of Media Performance Research
2020
Media performance is constitutive for functioning democracies. But what is the situation regarding media performance in the age of digitalisation? And how can media performance continue to be assured under the current difficult economic conditions for the news industry? In this essay, we give a short overview of how media performance research has developed from the introduction of private broadcasting to the spread of the Internet and social media. In the course of this development, the initial focus of media performance research on media content has broadened to include media quality from the user perspective. We show how the contributions to this thematic issue relate with existing lines …
Literāro darbu digitalizēšanas tiesiskie aspekti
2016
2020
Maģistra darbs “Teātra režisoru pašreprezentācija publiskajā telpā: Latvijas piemērs” ir mēģinājums raksturot Latvijas teātra režisorus kā publiskas figūras, fiksējot un analizējot viņu publiskās pašizpausmes ārpus teātra. Pētījumā tiek uzrādīti vēsturiski nozīmīgi latviešu teātra laikmeti un tendences, kas ietekmē režisoru publisko aktivitāti, aptverot laiku kopš latviešu profesionālā teātra sākotnes 19. gadsimta 70. gados līdz 21. gadsimtam. Darbā atsevišķi izcelti četri spilgti režisori – Ādolfs Alunāns (1848–1912), Alvis Hermanis (1965), Regnārs Vaivars (1973), Vladislavs Nastavševs (1978) – aplūkojot viņus kā publiskus aktierus un interpretējot viņu aktivitātes kā izrādes, balstoties Ē…

Prepublicaciones: distribucion centralizada vs. descentralizada.
2000
Prepublications are accounts of research results that are distributed prior to formal publication in scientific journals. They are the form of scholarly communication that has taken more advantage of the advances in telecommunication and information technologies. Their electronic distribution has taken a different form within the disciplines. In this paper we compare the decentralized model of Economies with the centralized model of Physics.

Las Prepublicaciones, borradores de trabajos distribuídos antes de su publicacion formal en revistas, han sido el proceso de comunicación científica que más se ha beneficiado de los avances en telecomunicaciones. Su distribución elect…

Long-Term Field Evaluation of Conventional vs. Micropropagated Plants of Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium
2022
Pyrethrum is a perennial herbaceous plant endemic to the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, and introduced in large areas of nearly all continents, where it is cultivated for the industrial extraction of pyrethrins. Pyrethrins are a group of six closely related monoterpene esters, widely used as natural insecticides. The world production of natural pyrethrins is lower than the market demand, and a wider introduction of this crop within the Mediterranean agrosystems could be an appealing opportunity for farmers and manufacturers. The availability of adequate amounts of selected plant material to bring into cultivation is, however, one of the major issues. Therefore, the in vitro propagation …
IT-Supported International Subsidiary Establishment Process for the Japanese Market: A Case Study on Finnish High Technology SMEs
2005
The large size of the Japanese IT market makes it attractive to and important for foreign high technology companies. However, the Japanese market is very challenging, highly competitive, and difficult to penetrate for foreign small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Most SMEs fail to penetrate into the Japanese market effectively by using modern IT-tools in the international subsidiary establishment process. No earlier in-depth empirical research exists on the IT-supported international subsidiary establishment process for this market. This study investigated and analyzed how a Finnish high technology SME implemented the ITsupported international subsidiary establishment process for the J…
