Behavior of plant plasma membranes under hydrostatic pressure as monitored by fluorescent environment-sensitive probes.

International audience; We monitored the behavior of plasma membrane (PM) isolated from tobacco cells (BY-2) under hydrostatic pressures up to 3.5 kbar at 30 °C, by steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy using the newly introduced environment-sensitive probe F2N12S and also Laurdan and di-4-ANEPPDHQ. The consequences of sterol depletion by methyl-β-cyclodextrin were also studied. We found that application of hydrostatic pressure led to a marked decrease of hydration as probed by F2N12S and to an increase of the generalized polarization excitation (GPex) of Laurdan. International audience; Ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) are non-selective cation channels permeable to calcium, present in animals and plants. In mammals, glutamate is a well-known neurotransmitter and recently has been recognized as an immunomodulator. Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the physicochemical properties and amino acid profiles of pork sausages prepared by including vegetable protein sources (beans, peas, and lentils), microalgae (Chlorella and Spirulina) or whey, as compared with a control (soy protein). Significant differences were found for all the studied parameters. The protein content was significantly lower in sausages made with pea protein compared with the control. These natural openings also constitute a way of penetration for microorganisms. Describing the remaining natural genetic diversity and the proportion of domestic hatchery strains in rivers is a prerequisite for smart conservation. Potential of nisin-incorporated sodium caseinate films to control Listeria in artificially contaminated cheese

International audience; A sodium caseinate film containing nisin (1000 IU/cm(2)) was produced and used to control Listeria innocua in an artificially contaminated cheese. Mini red Babybel cheese was chosen as a model semi-soft cheese. L. innocua was both surface- and in-depth inoculated to investigate the effectiveness of the antimicrobial film as a function of the distance from the surface in contact with the film. The presence of the active film resulted in a 1.1 log CFU/g reduction in L. innocua counts in surface-inoculated cheese samples after one week of storage at 4 degrees C as compared to control samples.
