On AdS7 stability

2019

AdS$_7$ supersymmetric solutions in type IIA have been classified, and they are infinitely many. Moreover, every such solution has a non-supersymmetric sister. In this paper, we study the perturbative and non-perturbative stability of these non-supersymmetric solutions, focusing on cases without orientifolds. Perturbatively, we first look at the KK spectrum of spin-2 excitations. This does not exhibit instabilities, but it does show that there is no separation of scales for either the BPS and the non-BPS case, thus proving for supersymmetric AdS$_7$ a well-known recent conjecture. We then use 7d gauged supergravity and a brane polarization computation to access part of the spectrum of KK sc…

Integrating over quiver variety and BPS/CFT correspondence

2019

We show the vertex operator formalism for the quiver gauge theory partition function and the $qq$-character of highest-weight module on quiver, both associated with the integral over the quiver variety.

How and for whom does a positive affect intervention work in fibromyalgia: An analysis of mediators and moderators.

2019

Objectives: Psychological interventions designed to enhance positive affect are promising ways to promote adaptive functioning in people with chronic pain. However, few studies have addressed the efficacy of positive affect interventions in chronic pain populations and examined which patients can benefit more from them. The aim of the present study was to identify mediators and moderators of the best possible self intervention (BPS) in fibromyalgia patients. Methods: We used data from a previous randomized controlled trial that examined changes in pain interference, depression, self‐efficacy and quality of life after the BPS intervention. Results: Mediation analyses showed that depression med…

BPS Dionu BIoni, Neekstremālie atrisinājumi AdS_5 × S^5 telpā un AdS/CFT duāli objekti

2019

Dotajā darbā tiek meklēti neekstremālie atrisinājumi, kuri atbilst Dionu BIoniem vai citiem solitonu tipa atrisinājumiem. Kā zināms Dž. Švarca \cite{Schwarz:2014zsa}, H. Maldasena \cite{Maldacena:1998im} un R. Maijersa \cite{Myers:1999ps} darbos tiek analizēti dažādi ekstremālie atrisinājumi, dotajā darbā sākumā tiek analizēta D3 zondes brānas ekstremālā konstrukcija $ AdS_{5} \times S^{5} $ telpā. Nākamajā posma šī ģeometrija tiek deformēta ieviešot metrikā melnos faktorus, kas arī attīsta notikuma horizonta jēdzienu (melnā brāna) un noved pie problēmas galīgo temperatūras atrisinājumu eksistenci un to interpretācijas. Ekstremālajā gadījumā ($ T = 0 $) tiek dots neatkarīgs jauns izvedums, …

Guanine inhibits the growth of human glioma and melanoma cell lines by interacting with GPR23

2022

Guanine-based purines (GBPs) exert numerous biological effects at the central nervous system through putative membrane receptors, the existence of which is still elusive. To shed light on this question, we screened orphan and poorly characterized G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs), selecting those that showed a high purinoreceptor similarity and were expressed in glioma cells, where GBPs exerted a powerful antiproliferative effect. Of the GPRs chosen, only the silencing of GPR23, also known as lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) 4 receptor, counteracted GBP-induced growth inhibition in U87 cells. Guanine (GUA) was the most potent compound behind the GPR23-mediated effect, acting as the endpoint eff…

ROLE OF RNA BINDING PROTEIN IN THE NERVE CELL DIFFERENTIATION

2014

Synthesis of H1˚ and H3.3 histone proteins, in the developing rat brain, seems to be regulated mainly at the post-transcriptional level. Since regulation of RNA metabolism depends on a series of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), we have been searching for RBPs involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of the H1˚ and H3.3 genes. Previously, we reported isolation, from a cDNA expression library, of an insert encoding a novel protein, the C-terminal half of which is identical to that of PEP-19, a brain-specific protein involved in calcium metabolism. The novel protein was called long PEP-19 isoform (LPI). We showed that LPI, as well as PEP-19, can bind H1˚ RNA. Since PEP19 and LPI contain a c…

Developing rat brain as well as cultured astrocytes contain H1° mRNA-protein complexes

2015

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) regulate intracellular transport, pre-localization, stability, and translation of mRNAs [1]. We previously identified a set of proteins which interact with mRNAs encoding H1° and H3.3 histones [2-5]. All these proteins are probably part of a ribonucleoprotein particle [6]. Here we report the results of a more detailed study on the expression and intracellular localization of some of these RBPs, such as hnRNP K and A1, and Hsc70, during rat brain development and in cultured rat astrocytes. We also investigated the presence in the complexes of PIPPin/CSD-C2 protein. Affinity chromatography was performed as already described [6]. Preparation of total lysates and cel…

H1° mRNA-containing complexes in rat brain cells. In: Proceedings of the Abstracts

2015

Post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression depends on RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), which are able to regulate translation, stability and subcellular localization of mRNAs [1]. RNA-protein complexes start to be built up since transcription; some proteins remain then bound to the transcript, while others behave as only transient components. In the developing nervous system of mammals, the postnatal production of the histone variants H1° and H3.3 is mainly regulated at the post-transcriptional level. Synthesis and incorporation into chromatin of the two histone proteins has been suggested to be involved in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression, both in normal brain development a…
