We study the dynamics of domain walls (DWs) in a metallic, ferromagnetic nanowire. We develop a Keldysh collective coordinate technique to describe the effect of conduction electrons on rigid magnetic structures. The effective Lagrangian and Langevin equations of motion for a DW are derived. The DW dynamics is described by two collective degrees of freedom: position and tilt-angle. The coupled Langevin equations therefore involve two correlated noise sources, leading to a generalized fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT). The DW response kernel due to electrons contains two parts: one related to dissipation via FDT, and another `inertial' part. We prove that the latter term leads to a mass …
Neutrino propagation and spin zero sound in hot neutron matter with Skyrme interactions

We present microscopic calculations of neutrino propagation in hot neutron matter above nuclear density within the framework of the Random Phase Approximation . Calculations are performed for non- degenerate neutrinos using various Skyrme effective interactions. We find that for densities just above nuclear density, spin zero sound is present at zero temperature for all Skyrme forces considered. However it disappears rapidly with increasing temperature due to a strong Landau damping. As a result the mean-free path is given, to a good approximation, by the mean field value. Preferential CO oxidation over catalysts with well-defined inverse opal structure in microchannels

Catalyst supports of CeO 2 /SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 with three-dimensionally ordered macroporous structure were fabricated in microchannels by application of PMMA opals as templates. Pt-Rh supported on CeO 2 /SiO 2 showed high efficiency for CO removal in preferential CO oxidation in the presence of excess hydrogen. Pt-Rh supported on Al 2 O 3 with an inverse opal structure showed higher reactivity than that supported on wash-coated Al 2 O 3 layers in microchannel reactor.
