Abstract Symbolic interactionist approaches to sexuality state that human beings become sexual as they become whatever else and learn sexual definitions and sexual meanings just like they learn any other kind of meaning. This article explores the ‘lack of meaning’ in contemporary society as a consequence of Western dualist thought paradigms and ontologies, via Gilles Deleuze’s concept of ‘reactive nihilism’ following the colloquial murder of God. The article then explores processual and new materialist approaches in the understanding of the lived and carnal self, arguing for immanent and senseful materiality as an ethical platform for religious, environmental, and societal solidarity for tomorrow. Learning Psychology and becoming psychologists: developing professional identity through group experiential learning

International audience; n this paper, we describe the advantages of an experiential training group, specifically conceived for psychology students, in which the goal was to activate reflection on the internalized social representations of professional identity. Our study showed the results of a pre-post comparison of a one-group intervention. It was aimed to demonstrate that group experiential learning is particularly useful in changing the basis of social representations and may contribute to the construction of a realistic image of both the profession and the professional identity. La tradición clásica como referencia de vanguardia: la Antigüedad griega y romana en la obra del pintor Gregorio Prieto (1897-1992)

This article analyses the impact of classical tradition on the artistic production of Gregorio Prieto (1897-1992), painter par excellence of the Generation of 1927. It will be discovered how this influence, far from becoming a conservative reference, would constitute an incentive for his entailment with the avant-garde, especially with surrealism. Although the classic trace is found with more intensity in the creations produced during his Roman years, between 1928 and 1929, when he also made important trips to Sicily and Greece, Greece and Rome would nevertheless continue to be constitutive of his aesthetic experience throughout his later and extensive career.

Exploration of new post-secondary mathematics teachers' experiences: preliminary results of a narrative inquiry

International audience; This paper reports on a pilot study that has taken place during the winter semester of 2017, for a larger project whose goal is to understand the process of becoming a mathematics teacher at post-secondary level. With very few information from the literature on this process at this specific level, this pilot study acts as an exploration of the issues and reality the new teachers face. To do so, we conducted a narrative inquiry with three new post-secondary mathematics teachers who were interviewed on a regular basis during a semester. AbstractThis chapter explores how the entangled relationship between the material and social in teachers’ perceptions of change can be empirically investigated. More specifically, the chapter adopts a DeleuzoGuattarian rhizoanalytic assemblage approach and the notion of becoming to capture the dynamic and fluid nature of social and material affects. The study re-analyses three teacher interviews from data sets originally collected for different research purposes but with the theme of change relevant in each interview. The Making of the Ordinary Child in Preschool

The article examines parent-teacher conferences in Finnish and Swedish preschools. Previous research has shown that the conferences are mostly about the evaluation of the child. Based on qualitative data, the article studies how this evaluation is done. It asks how the institutional order regarding children is constructed in parent-teacher conferences and what the ordinary child is like that this order presumes.
