Relationship benefits and costs in retailing: A cross-industry comparison

2009

Relationship marketing is based on the establishment and maintenance of continuous relationships between buyer and seller as a source of mutual benefits. Following this approach, customers' evaluations of benefits and monetary and non-monetary sacrifices derived from their relationships with the retailer are crucial for the existence of ongoing and successful relationships. Such a perception may, however, vary greatly depending on the type of service provided. In this paper, we analyse customers' assessments of the benefits and costs of their relationships with four types of retailers.

Consumer behavior in a religious event experience: an empirical assessment of value dimensionality among volunteers

2009

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to present volunteering in tourism events as a sort of spontaneous community participation that has far‐reaching consequences for destination management. It chooses the concept of value to explore volunteering experience in an international religious mega‐event, using Holbrook's value typology (efficiency, social value, play, spirituality).Design/methodology/approachThe authors undertake this objective by means of testing psychometric properties of the four value scales, as well as providing a causal model of relationships among value dimensions and overall perceived value, satisfaction and loyalty or commitment to volunteering in a special event tested w…

Highperformance work systems and employee innovative behaviour

2015

Fairness behavior in an economic crisis environment: a Romanian experimental perspective

2012

Abstract In the context of the current prolonged economic crisis, we were wondering if the typical behaviour of Romanians in terms of their ‘fairness’ has suffered any modification. This study is trying to identify the effect of psychological pressure created by the economic crisis on fairness using the Ultimatum Game. We aim to look at the question if this hypothetical phenomenon applies mostly to people who use economic information in their day-to-day life (e.g., economic science students) or if it also affects different populations (e.g., psychology students). Another aim is to understand if any difference is influenced mainly by vocational personalities as Holland hs described.

Cruise passengers' experiences in a Mediterranean port of call. The case study of Valencia

2014

Most cruise tourism studies have been restricted to one geographical region, the Caribbean, to a single cruise line, and to onboard experiences. Despite their relevance there has been little research on the Mediterranean region, on specific ports of call and on off-board experience. Furthermore, in the cruise context, there have been no studies on the role of culture in consumer behavior. Hoping to help fill this void, this research analyzed the influence of cruise passengers' image of a Mediterranean port of call on visit satisfaction and future behavioral intentions, and the moderating role of culture in causal relationships among these constructs. Data were collected in the port of Valen…

Analysis of the unpredictable migration of impacted mandibular third molars: A pilot study

2020

Background Eruption of an impacted mandibular third molar (3MM) is often unpredictable. The objective of this study was to establish the radiographic parameters of migration in patients whose 3MMs evolved unpredictably. Material and Methods This was a retrospective observational study. Patients with unusual 3MM migration (away from their physiological eruption position with changes in the longitudinal and horizontal axes) and with at least two panoramic radiographs were included. To evaluate the radiographic parameters, images were superimposed, using mandibular angle and ipsilateral condyle as references. Results Of a total of 2851 patients, four were included in our study. The average age…

Testing of the hydro-mechanical behaviour of shales.

2016

Shales are among the most commonly considered geomaterials in current energy-related geomechanical investigations, as they are involved in engineering applications such as the unconventional extraction of natural gas, CO2 sequestration and nuclear waste geological storage. A deep understanding of their hydro-mechanical behaviour is of primary significance for such applications. In this paper selected results on the water retention behaviour and on the high pressure oedometric compression behaviour of shales are presented.

Col-azioni.

In 1995, the fao identified the city as a place in which to produce food. Since then, the trend to integrate small places, necessary for pasture and cultivation, has produced a substantial and valid corpus of strategies, methods and realisations. At the same time, in Europe, research into th…

Socio-spatial dynamics and ways of living of urban spaces : comparison of Besançon, Mulhouse and Strasbourg

2013

The spatial distribution of urban functions and populations is not random, this distribution canhighlight inequalities which call into question our democratic societies based on the principle ofequality. This principle is based on the relationship between the “social” and the “spatial” whichmainly consist in investigating social disparities in urban areas and what is perceived as an injustice byindividuals. To understand these socio-spatial dynamics, we focus our research on the urban history ofBesançon, Mulhouse and Strasbourg as well as the relations between the inhabitants and theirresidential environment. Using large geo-localized databases from INSEE, we study the spatialdistribution o…

Towards an Assessment of Public Library Value

2010

PurposeThis paper aims to present a methodology, early findings, possible applications of results and lessons learned from the research study “Public libraries: value, trust and satisfaction”, which has been conducted within the public library development project ‘Father's Third Son’ in Latvia.Design/methodology/approachA combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was used (although the findings reported here are largely drawn from the quantitative study) drawing on various theories of information behaviour and use‐oriented information service evaluation.FindingsThe study gives a good picture of user information needs in Latvia, the sources they use to fulfil them and the role of p…
