cis-Dichloridobis(2-isocyanophenyl 4-methoxybenzoate)palladium(II) chloroform monosolvate
2012
In the title compound, [PdCl2(C15H11NO3)2]·CHCl3, the PdII atom adopts a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry composed of two Cl atoms in cis positions and two C atoms from isocyanophenyl ligands. The molecular conformation is stabilized by π–π stacking interactions [shortest centroid–centroid distance = 3.600 (1) Å] between substituted benzene rings of different ligands. The crystal packing is characterized by C—H...O and C—H...Cl interactions involving the chloroform solvent molecules.
Dipotassium 4,4'-(hexane-3,4-di-yl)bis-(benzene-sulfonate) dihydrate.
2008
The anion of the title compound, also called sygethin dihydrate, 2K(+)·C(18)H(20)O(6)S(2) (2-)·2H(2)O, has crystallographic inversion symmetry. The K(+) cation is surrounded by eight O atoms in a distorted cubic coordination geometry, forming extended K-O-S networks. There are also O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Chromation and ferration are the latest additions to the concept of alkali-metal-mediated metalation, as described by J. Klett, R. E. Mulvey, and co-workers in their Communication on page 3317 ff. While the more electropositive sodium is essential for the reaction, it is the less electropositive chromium or iron that actually performs deprotonation of benzene. This novel reactivity can be likened to a game of chess in which the queen (Na) holds the king in check, while the knight (Cr, Fe) scores checkm(etal)ate.
Phenyl methacrylates can easily be prepared with yields of pure esters up to 95% by reaction of the phenolic compounds with methacryloyl chloride in cooled benzene (5—10°C) in the presence of triethylamine. Three simple phenyl methacrylates and ten oligo[(2-hydroxy-1,3-phenylene)methylene]s completely esterified by methacryl…
Oligo(1,4-phenylenepyrazole-3,5-diyl)s
2003
The bifunctional nucleophile methylhydrazine reacts in an alkaline medium in a regioselective mode with chalcones to yield 2-pyrazolines, which can be oxidized by DDQ to the corresponding 1H-pyrazoles. From oligo(chalcone)s this reaction yields cross-conjugated compounds with an alternating sequence of 1,4-disubstituted benzene rings and 3,5-disubstituted 1H-pyrazole rings. Characterization of two Lactococcus lactis zinc membrane proteins, Llmg_0524 and Llmg_0526, and role of Llmg_0524 in cell wall integrity
2015
Background Due to its extraordinary chemical properties, the cysteine amino acid residue is often involved in protein folding, electron driving, sensing stress, and binding metals such as iron or zinc. Lactococcus lactis, a Gram-positive bacterium, houses around one hundred cysteine-rich proteins (with the CX2C motif) in the cytoplasm, but only a few in the membrane. Results In order to understand the role played by this motif we focused our work on two membrane proteins of unknown function: Llmg_0524 and Llmg_0526. Each of these proteins has two CX2C motifs separated by ten amino-acid residues (CX2CX10CX2C). Together with a short intervening gene (llmg_0525), the genes of these two protein…
Heterocyclic and Phenyl Double-Bond-Locked Combretastatin Analogues Possessing Potent Apoptosis-inducing activity in HL60 and in MDR Cell lines
2005
Two new series of combretastatin (CA-4) analogues have been prepared. The alkenyl motif of CA-4 was replaced either by a five-membered heterocyclic (isoxazoline or isoxazole) or by a six-membered ring (pyridine or benzene). The new compounds have been evaluated for their effects on tubulin assembly and for cytotoxic and apoptotic activities. Five compounds (18b, 20a, 21a, 34b, and 35b) demonstrated an attractive profile of cytotoxicity (IC501 microM) and apoptosis-inducing activity but poor antitubulin activity. The isoxazoline derivatives 18b, 20a, and 21a, demonstrated potent apoptotic activity different from that of natural CA-4. Their ability to block most cells in the G2 phase suggests…
Improved AMYR program: an algorithm for the theoretical simulation of molecular associations, including geometrical and topological characterization …
1991
Program AMYR, originally written by S. Fraga (University of Alberta, Canada), allows for the calculation of molecular associations using a pair-wise atom-atom potential. The interaction energy is evaluated through a 1/R expansion. Our improved version includes a dispersion energy term in the potential corrected by damping functions, the possibility of carrying out energy minimizations through variable metric methods, as well as the optional calculation of geometrical and topological indices. Program AMYR has been adapted also for high-performance computing and vectorization. An interactive version of the program carries out real-time molecular graphics showing simultaneously the energy prof…
