Affinity and efficacy of racemic, (+)-, and (−)-methacholine in muscarinic inhibition of [3H]-noradrenaline release
1985
The right postganglionic sympathetic nerves of rat isolated perfused hearts (previously loaded with [3H]-noradrenaline) were stimulated electrically with 10 trains of 10 pulses at 10 Hz. The inhibition by methacholine of stimulation-evoked [3H]-noradrenaline overflow into the perfusate (determined in the presence of corticosterone, desipramine, phentolamine, and propranolol) was taken as a measure for activation of presynaptic muscarinic receptors. The evoked [3H]-noradrenaline overflow was inhibited by (+)-, racemic, and (-)-methacholine in a reversible and concentration-dependent manner. The concentration causing 50% inhibition (IC50) was 0.1, 0.26, and 65 microM, respectively, resulting …
Synthesis of highly functionalized 9,10-phenanthrenequinones by oxidative coupling using MoCl5.
2012
The strong oxidative power of molybdenum pentachloride gives rise to an efficient oxidative C-C bond formation of benzil derivatives to the corresponding 9,10-phenanthrenequinones. A highly complementary method to previous approaches was developed. The required derivatives are accessible in a modular fashion and in excellent yields. By this approach the orchid-derived natural product cypripediquinone A was synthesized for the first time.
Designing robust immediate release tablet formulations avoiding food effects for BCS class 3 drugs
2019
Abstract Food induced viscosity in the gastrointestinal tract is reported to reduce the bioavailability of tablets containing BCS class 3 drugs, mainly by retarding their disintegration and dissolution of the active pharmaceutical ingredient. The role of formulation factors in minimizing this negative food effect is largely unknown. Combinations of disintegrants were studied together with soluble and insoluble fillers and trospium chloride as model drug substance. Different batches of tablets were compressed at 10 kN and 30 kN, by incorporating different combinations of croscarmellose sodium (CSS), cross-linked (CPD) and sodium starch glycolate (SSG) at low level i.e, 2% + 2% and high level…
Polymer-supported molybdenyl thioglycolate as oxygen atom transfer reagent
2000
Abstract Oxo-transfer reactions of a variety of substrates in DMF or methanol using polymer-supported molybdenyl thioglycolate (PSMT) have been investigated. The clean oxidation of Me 2 PhP, n -butanethiol or benzoin to yield Me 2 PhPO, disulfide or benzil, respectively, occurs in high yield. In the presence of air or pyridine N-oxide, a catalytic cycle is accomplished which goes on until the completion of the substrate.
New strategies for medical management of overactive bladder in children.
2011
Purpose of review The medical treatment of children with non-neurogenic overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) is still limited to a small number of drugs approved for use in childhood according to the national regulations of each country. Recent findings Over the last few years, there were several studies on the use of antimuscarinics other than oxybutynin in children, as well as some on the use of extended release oxybutynin and tolterodine and transdermal oxybutynin. It was shown that the combination of two different anticholinergics might be a well tolerated and successful option in children with OAB refractory to monotherapy, as well as administration of a receptor-selective antimuscarinic …
Dioxomolybdenum(VI) and -Tungsten(VI) Amino Bisphenolates as Epoxidation Catalysts
2016
Low-cost metallate salts Na2MO4·2H2O (M = molybdenum, tungsten) react with a tridentate amine bisphenol bis(2-hydroxy-3-tert-butyl-5-methylbenzyl)methylamine (H2ONOtBu) under ambient conditions in acidic methanol solutions. The reactions lead to the formation of isostructural dioxo complexes [MO2(ONOtBu)(MeOH)]·MeOH in convenient yields. Spectral data as well as X-ray analyses reveal these complexes to be isostructural. Both compounds were tested as catalysts for epoxidation of olefins using cis-cyclooctene, cyclohexene, norbornene and styrene as substrates and tert-butyl hydroperoxide and hydrogen peroxide as oxidants. The molybdenum complex catalyses selectively the oxidation of cis-cyclo…
