Synthesis and Complexation of the Metalloligand {(η5-C5H5)[η5-C5Me3-1,2-(PPh2)2]TiCl2} (TiPHOS): The First Example of a 1,2-Bis(diphenylphosphanyl)ti…
2001
The reaction of lithium 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphanyl)trimethylcyclopentadienide (1) with CpTiCl3 leads to the formation of the titanocene diphosphane {(η5-C5H5)[η5-C5Me3-1,2-(PPh2)2]TiCl2} (TiPHOS, 2). This metalloligand reacts readily with (NBD)Cr(CO)4 and W(CO)5(THF) to give, in both cases, the bimetallic chelate complexes (TiPHOS)Cr(CO)4 (3) and (TiPHOS)W(CO)4 (4). The structure of 4 has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The synthesis of a new early-late heterobimetallic complex (TiPHOS)Rh(CO)Cl (5) is reported.
Insertion of a [Fe II (pyimH) 3 ] 2+ [pyimH = 2‐(1 H ‐Imidazol‐2‐yl)pyridine] Spin‐Crossover Complex Inside a Ferromagnetic Lattice Based on a Chiral…
2015
The insertion of the [FeII(pyimH)3]2+ [pyimH = 2-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine] spin-crossover complex into a ferromagnetic bimetallic oxalate network affords the hybrid compound [FeII(pyimH)3][MnIICrIII(ox)3]2·X (ox = C2O42–). This spin-crossover complex templates the growth of crystals formed by a chiral 3D oxalate network. The magnetic properties of this hybrid magnet show the coexistence of long-range ferromagnetic ordering at 4.5 K and a spin crossover of the intercalated [FeII(pyimH)3]2+ complex above 250 K. The compound presents a light-induced excited spin-state trapping (LIESST) effect below 60 K although with limited photoconversion (less than 8 %).

Synergetic effect of gold in Au/Pd catalysts during hydrodesulfurization reactions of model compounds
2003
Abstract The simultaneous formation of colloidal dispersions of Pd and Au metal particles protected by the organic polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in reducing alcohol solution was used for the synthesis of new silica-supported monometallic and bimetallic Au x Pd y catalysts with different x / y ratios. The samples, with a 2 wt% total metal loading, after air calcinations at 673 K to remove the PVP, were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and FTIR spectra of chemisorbed CO. Formation of alloyed Au x Pd y particles of different metal composition with consequent modification of their electronic and geometric properties was ascertained. The catalytic activi…
Liquid phase selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol over Pd–Ag catalysts supported on pumice
2001
Abstract Selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde was carried out over pumice supported bimetallic and monometallic Pd and Ag catalysts. Preliminary kinetic studies were performed at 333 K in autoclave, at pressure of 2 atm in pure oxygen. Under these conditions, small amounts of benzoic acid were detected with the monometallic Pd pumice being the most active catalyst. The reaction was also carried out under flowing oxygen at atmospheric pressure and at 348 K. Under these conditions, the selectivity to benzaldehyde was 100%. The catalytic activity of the catalysts was measured after different oxidation and reduction treatments at high temperature. In addition, two mechanical mi…
Effect of Gold on the HDS Activity of Supported Palladium Catalysts
2002
Abstract The effect of gold on palladium catalysts supported on amorphous aluminosilicate was investigated in the hydrodesulfurization of thiophene. A series of bimetallic AuxPdy catalysts was prepared by the slow deposition–precipitation method with decomposition of urea. The structural and surface properties of the samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques at different stages of the catalyst life. After calcination at 673 K, gold-enriched solid solutions of approximately Au90Pd10 and Au80Pd20 composition were formed for all samples of different Au/Pd ratios, along with free palladium phases. Au80Pd20 was the prevailing phase. Hydrogen treat…
Mononuclear and polynuclear complexes ligated by an iminodiacetic acid derivative: synthesis, structure, solution studies and magnetic properties
2016
Two novel families of coordination polymers, [Ln(bzlida)(Hbzlida)]·H2O (Ln = La, Nd) and [Ln2(bzlida)3]·3H2O (Ln = Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd) were prepared by hydrothermal reaction of Ln2O3 with benzyliminodiacetic acid (H2bzlida). The conditions of synthesis, in particular the pH value, were selected on the basis of previous speciation studies reported in this work. The first type of complex consists of 1D chains built by a fully deprotonated ligand bridging two lanthanide ions and protonated Hbzlida(-) ligands connecting three cations. The second type is formed by [Ln2(bzlida)3] bimetallic units in which the ligand has a tridentate NOO coordination mode. This is expanded to a 2D network through carb…
Stereospecific Polymerization of Isoprene with Nd(BH4)3(THF)3/MgBu2 as Catalyst
2004
The neodymium trisborohydride Nd(BH 4 ) 3 - (THF) 3 (THF = tetrahydrofuran) has been used as a catalyst precursor for isoprene polymerization for the first time. Associated to an excess of Al(Et) 3 , the resulting catalyst is moderately active, giving a mixture of cis- and trans- polymer. Addition of a stoichiometric amount of MgBu 2 to Nd(BH 4 ) 3 (THF) 3 affords a stereospecific catalyst providing trans-1,4-polyisoprene, more than 96% regular. That dual component Nd/Mg system also shows a better efficiency and good control of the molecular weights. A molecular structure is tentatively attributed to a bimetallic active species, based on 1 H NMR experiments.
Single chain magnets based on the oxalate ligand.
2008
The anionic oxalate-bridged bimetallic chain [Co(H2O)2Cr(ox)3]- shows slow relaxation of the magnetization, typical of the so-called single-chain magnets, when crystallized in segregated layers in a mixed salt with the supramolecular cations [C12H24O6K]+ and [(C12H24O6)(FC6H4NH3)]+. This is the first time that such phenomenon has been observed in an oxalate-bridge material. In view of the wide synthetic versatility exhibited by the oxalate ligand, it opens the door for the realization of a complete family of SCM materials whose physical properties might be tuned by the suitable replacement of M3+ ions within the chain. The information extracted from the systematic study of these compounds s…
Towards a Library of “Early‐Late” Ti–Ru Bimetallic Complexes
2005
A series of new titanocene phosphanes 3–6 have been prepared by replacing both chloride atoms at the titanium atom of the complexes [TiCl2(η5-C5H5){η5-C5H4(CH2)2PR2}] (1: R = Ph; 2: R = Cy) by sodium fluoride or sodium benzoate in two-phase systems. Treatment of these new metalloligands with the binuclear complex [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2 affords the targeted titanocene difluoride and titanocene dibenzoate bimetallic ruthenium complexes 8–11. The first chiral Ti–Ru bimetallic complex 12 bearing a binaphthyloxy ligand at the titanium centre has been synthesised in this way. In each series, an X-ray crystal structure has been determined.
