Metal Complexes of Two Specific Regions of ZnuA, a Periplasmic Zinc(II) Transporter from Escherichia coli

The crystal structure of ZnZnuA from Escherichia coli reveals two metal binding sites. (i) The primary binding site, His143, is located close the His-rich loop (residues 116-138) and plays a significant role in Zn(II) acquisition. (ii) The secondary binding site involves His224. Synthesis and structural properties of hexaaza[5]helicene containing two [1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine moieties

Abstract We have synthesized a novel hexaaza[5]helicene in a straightforward way from neocuproine. The crystal structure has been elucidated with direct-space strategy TALP which demonstrates the power of the powder X-ray diffraction technique. In this crystal structure it is possible to see an interplanar angle of 33(1)° between the two triazolopyridine rings. The centrosymmetric crystal structure is a racemic mixture, but the resolution was not possible due to a ring-chain isomerization in a solution that produces a dynamic racemization.

The oxidation of {[(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )]( n -Bu)Sn} 2 Cp 2 Zr by oxygen gives the five-membered dioxadistannazirconacyclic complex {[(N(C 6 H 3 i Pr 2 -2,6)(SiMe 3 )]( n -Bu)Sn} 2 O 2 Cp 2 Zr.

Emerging drugs of abuse, belonging to many different chemical classes, are attracting users with promises of “legal” highs and easy access via internet. Prevalence of their consumption and abuse through wastewater-based epidemiology can only be realized if a suitable analytical screening procedure exists to detect and quantify them in water. In this paper, the SOMOSTA (Soil Moisture Monitoring Station) experiment on the intercomparison of soil moisture monitoring from Global Navigation Satellite System Reflectometry (GNSS-R) signals and passive L-band microwave radiometer observations at the Valencia Anchor Station is introduced. Spatio-temporal patterns of thermal anomalies and drought over tropical forests driven by recent extreme climatic anomalies

The recent 2015–2016 El Niño (EN) event was considered as strong as the EN in 1997–1998. Given such magnitude, it was expected to result in extreme warming and moisture anomalies in tropical areas. Here we characterize the spatial patterns of temperature anomalies and drought over tropical forests, including tropical South America (Amazonia), Africa and Asia/Indonesia during the 2015–2016 EN event. [EN] Accurate and reliable estimation of kinetic parameters of pollutant biodegradation processes is essential for environmental and health risk assessment. Land Use Affects Carbon Sources to the Pelagic Food Web in a Small Boreal Lake

Small humic forest lakes often have high contributions of methane-derived carbon in their food webs but little is known about the temporal stability of this carbon pathway and how it responds to environmental changes on longer time scales. We reconstructed past variations in the contribution of methanogenic carbon in the pelagic food web of a small boreal lake in Finland by analyzing the stable carbon isotopic composition (δ13C values) of chitinous fossils of planktivorous invertebrates in sediments from the lake.
