Objective— Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) is a target gene for the liver X receptor (LXR). The aim of this study was to further explore this regulation in the monocyte-macrophage lineage and its modulation by lipid loading and inflammation, which are key steps in the process of atherogenesis. Methods and Results— Exposure of bone marrow–derived macrophages from human CETP transgenic mice to the T0901317 LXR agonist increased CETP, PLTP, and ABCA1 mRNA levels. However, it has recently been shown that ATG8 proteins can be lipidated to non-autophagosome, single-membrane compartments through a noncanonical autophagy pathway. OBJECTIVE: The capacity of thymomas to generate mature CD4+ effector T cells from immature precursors inside the tumor and export them to the blood is associated with thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis (TAMG). Why TAMG(+) thymomas generate and export more mature CD4+ T cells than MG(-) thymomas is unknown. METHODS: Unfixed thymoma tissue, thymocytes derived thereof, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), T-cell subsets and B cells were analysed using qRT-PCR and western blotting. Darba mērķis bija pētīt hepatīta B vīrusa (HBV) kapsīda, subvirālo daļiņu un virionu izveides nosacījumus, izmantojot alfavīrusa ekspresijas sistēmu. Inficēto BHK-21 šūnu preparātu analīze tika veikta ar ELISA, imunoblotu un imunocitoķīmiju. Tika veiksmīgi izveidoti rekombinanti SFV1-HBV vīrusi – PG – pilna genoma HBV vīruss un HBC – vīruss, ko veido kapsīda proteīni, kā arī pārbaudīti laboratorijas kolekcijā esošais saīsināta kapsīda proteīna ΔC vīruss, un apvalka proteīna 1/L vīruss. Cholesterol-lowering drugs such as statins influence the proteolytic processing of the amyloid-beta protein precursor (AbetaPP) and are reported to stimulate the activity of alpha-secretase, the major preventive secretase of Alzheimer's disease. Statins can increase the alpha-secretase activity by their cholesterol-lowering properties as well as by impairment of isoprenoids synthesis. In the present study, we elucidate the contribution of these pathways in alpha-secretase activation.
