Mouth metastatic cancers are very rare and they usually represent the evidence of a widespread disease. Common primary tumors are lung carcinoma in men and breast carcinoma in women, followed by kidney cancer. In the oral soft tissues, the gingiva is the most common site, suggesting a possible role of inflammation in the attraction of circulating tumor cells. Oral metastasis has a serious prognosis. In this work, we describe the case of a 58-year-old man affected by renal cancer, who was brought to our attention for the appearance of a gingival swelling. Parasite specificity in Podarcis bocagei and P. carbonelli (Lacertidae) from NW Portugal: a host-parasite history

Host parasite specificity is related to several factors including the type of life cycle of the parasite, the habitat occupied by both parasites and hosts, and the food habits of the hosts. In this work, gastrointestinal helminths in two congeneric lacertid lizards, Podarcis bocagei and Podarcis carbonelli living in sintopy, have been analysed. Out of four helminth species found, three of them, the trematode Brachylaima sp., the cestode Oochoristica gallica and the nematode Skrjabinelazia hoffmanni, have indirect life cycles while the nematode Spauligodon carbonelli has a direct life cycle. Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology that usually presents with bilateral hiliar adenopathies, pulmonary infiltrations, and ocular and cutaneous lesions. The specific cutaneous lesions, or granulomatous, are produced in from 9% to 37% of patients with systemic sarcoidosis. Synthesis of Sesquiterpenes via silicon-guided rearrangement of epoxydecalins

A survey of the rearrangement of methyldecalins via C-5 carbocation intermediates, with special attention to the silicon-guided rearrangement of epoxydecalins is provided. A TMS group properly positioned on either C-1 or C-9 promotes the acidic rearrangement of 10-methyl-4,5-epoxydecalins and 10-methyl-5,6-epoxydecalins with exclusive migration toward C-5 of the methyl or methylene groups linked directly to C-10. The application of this biomimetic approach to the synthesis of a number of spirocyclic and eremophilane sesquiterpenes is reported.

Abstract The need to study the differences among consumers due to their behavioural heterogeneity and the highly competitive consumer markets is recognized. In this paper, we analyse the potential heterogeneous shopping assessment in retail and how that experience may influence on consequent customer loyalty in a different way. The effects of satisfaction on attitudinal and behavioural loyalty and positive word of mouth are estimated by a finite-mixture structural equation model, and unobserved heterogeneity is analysed simultaneously. The tris[oligo(1,4-phenylenevinylene)]carbinols 2a–f (n =1–4) and the tris(4-styrylphenyl)methanes 7a,b have been prepared by Wittig–Horner (3 + 4a–f 2a–f) and Siegristreactions (5 + 6a,b 7a,b). The Wittig–Horner reactions in these examples are accompanied by an autoxidation, whereas a reduction occurs in the Siegrist reactions. Compound 2a, the lowest member (n = 1) of the series 2a–d with terminal dialkylamino groups, generates first, on treatment with acids, the methylium dye 2′a, which absorbs far into the NIR region (λmax = 1100 nm).
