Vector activity of Hyalesthes obsoletus living on nettles and transmitting a stolbur phytoplasma to grapevines: a case study

2007

International audience; We report a case study on the vector activity of a Hyalesthes obsoletus (Hemiptera: Cixiidae) population living on nettle plants (Urtica dioica) and transmitting a stolbur phytoplasma (Sp) to grapevines (Vitis vinifera). The research was conducted in a site that included a vineyard bordered with a large fallow area where nettles were the predominant plant species together with sparse old grapevines. Nettles hosted a high population of H. obsoletus. By using transparent sticky traps to sample adults, we observed that the daily flight activity of males and females to grapevines in the fallow was unimodal peaking between 15 and 21 h in the day. Adults were unable of gre…

Raspberry breeding and biotisation for increasing plant stress tolerance and antioxidant activity

2008

International audience; Chemical inputs used in red fruit production can be detrimental to the environment and pesticides are not always efficient in controlling plant diseases. In addition, it is suspected that conventional agricultural practices have a negative impact on antioxidant activities in red fruits. Therefore new cultural approaches are required in order to produce red fruits of high quality. This involves an integrated programme of plant breeding and development of sustainable agricultural practices. Antioxidant activity was compared in leaves and berries of six raspberry cultivars for the selection of varieties for a breeding programme. This showed that cultivars that had the h…

Isolation of a novel linalool disaccharide glycoside from Raspberry fruit

1991

Abstract A new linalool disaccharide glycoside ( 1a ) was isolated from raspberry fruit ( Rubus idaeus , cv. Heritage) and characterized as S-(+)-linalool 3-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside by means of spectroscopic studies.

“Framboisé” spoilage in French ciders: Zymomonas mobilis implication and characterization

2006

Abstract Biodiversity of 17 Zymomonas mobilis strains isolated from French “framboise” ciders from 7 different geographical areas of France was analysed using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and 6 different strain fingerprints were observed. One of the fingerprints was identical for 10 of the 17 cases. No correlation between geographical origin and strain fingerprint was observed. In parallel, the cider-making process was followed from the orchard to the final product for Z. mobilis presence. Detection of the bacterium only occurred during the fermentation process. The French isolate, strain AN0101, recently proposed as a novel subspecies ( Z. mobilis subsp. francensis ) was charact…

Virgin and Child sculptures in Buenos Aire’s public collections, 12th to 16th centuries

2016

During the last years, the building process and history of art collections became a prolific field of study in Argentina. However, research on medieval art in private and public collections in our country received little or no attention. But even if medieval art is considerably less represented than modern styles, there is an interesting amount of high quality medieval pieces exhibited at several museums in Argentina. The main purpose of this thesis is therefore to expand our knowledge of the medieval works of art in public Argentine collections, as related to their origin, dating, interpretation, technique and provenance. These pieces show great diversity of styles, provenance and techniqu…

The origins of the European city. Technology, typology and function of wooden architecture in the urban habitat of Celtic oppida (2nd-1st century BC)…

2020

The aim of this thesis is to shed light on current knowledge of the architecture of the oppida of temperate Europe during the last two centuries BC, based on a site, the Bibracte oppidum (Mont Beuvray, Burgundy), which is one of the reference contexts for the period on a European scale. The research focused mainly on the study of construction techniques involving the majority use of wood, which is the main material in the architecture of these settlements from the European protohistoric tradition. The analysis required consideration of the overall woodworking process, from the sourcing of wood from the forest to the various stages of building implementation. The technical aspects linked to …

Chemical composition and phytotoxic effects of essential oils of Salvia hierosolymitana Boiss. and Salvia multicaulis Vahl. var. simplicifolia Boiss.…

2009

The chemical composition of the essential oils of S. hierosolymitana Boiss. and S. multicaulis Vahl. var. simplicifolia Boiss. collected in Lebanon was studied by means of GC and GC-MS analysis. In all 115 compounds were identified: 82 for S hierosolymitana and 72 for S. multicaulis var. simplicifolia. The presence of carbonylic compounds (17%) characterizes the oil from S. hierosolymitana, while S. multicaulis var. simplicifolia oil is rich of monoterpenes (34.5%) and sesquiterpenes (46.9%). The effects of the essential oils on germination and initial radical elongation of Raphanus sativus L. (radish) and Lepidium sativum L. (garden cress) were studied, indicating in a different activity a…
