Pusaudžu vērtību attīstība hip-hop kultūras deju skolā

2013

The aim of the doctoral dissertation “Adolescent value development at a hip-hop culture dance school” is to study dance as a component of hip-hop culture and to reveal pedagogical means of adolescent value development at a hip-hop culture dance school. The research process and its results are described in two chapters. The first chapter analyses the notion of values, essence and components of hip-hop culture from the aspects of values and pedagogical process organisation. The values characteristic to adolescence have been detected along with their development possibilities within the pedagogical process of dance acquisition. Based on research on value theories, hip-hop culture dance as a me…

Mācīšanās no eksistenciālās pieredzes dzīves kvalitātei

2019

Host searching in Argulus foliaceus L. (Crustacea: Branchiura): the role of vision and selectivity.

1998

In laboratory experiments, the swimming behaviour of the ectoparasite Argulus foliaceus and its infection rates on juvenile perch (Perca fluviatilis) and roach (Rutilus rutilus) were examined. The highest infection rate and a preference for perch juveniles were obtained in darkness, the lowest infection rate and a lack of preference in the light, when aquaria with glass walls (high reflectivity) were used. In the light, when aquaria were lined with black plastic (low reflectivity) an intermediate level of infection for perch and the highest for roach was recorded. Under such conditions roach were significantly more heavily infected than perch; an attack rate 4 times greater was recorded for…

Influence of N-acetylcysteine on hepatic amino acid metabolism in patients undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation

2001

Experimental treatment with the antioxidant and glutathione precursor N-acetylcysteine (NAC) has been performed in orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) to reduce reperfusion injury. To investigate the effect of NAC on the hepatic and intestinal amino acid metabolism, intraoperative amino acid exchange rates were studied in liver transplant recipients with high dose NAC treatment (n = 10) and in control patients (n = 9). Treatment with NAC was found to cause a loss of amino acids and increased urea nitrogen release from the liver graft. The net balance of most amino acids was shifted to increased hepatic release or decreased hepatic uptake. The initial cumulative splanchnic release of all …

EctoparasiticArgulus coregoni(Crustacea: Branchiura) hedge their bets - studies on egg hatching dynamics

2004

Unpredictability in the temporal availability of susceptible hosts is likely to act as a selection pressure affecting the life history strategies of parasites. In highly variable environments the future of the lineage can be secured by spreading the risk, for example, by producing descendants that differ in their timing of emergence. Counter to this, in predictable environments a single “best-adapted” phenotype is expected. We asked whether ectoparasitic Argulus coregoni egg hatching pattern can be explained as a genetically canalized individual trait; an instance of phenotypic plasticity or bet-hedging. We collected egg clutches laid by individual A. coregoni females in early and late repr…

Energy dependence of the decay pathways of optically excited small gold clusters

2001

The pathway competition between neutral monomer and neutral dimer evaporation from optically excited odd-size gold cluster ions Au+ n, n=7–15, has been investigated as a function of cluster size and excitation energy. Gold cluster ions of these sizes are the only ones to show observable pathway competition while all other sizes exclusively evaporate either neutral monomers or neutral dimers. The investigation has been performed by photoexcitation of stored size-selected gold cluster ions with a single 10-ns laser pulse. Subsequent time-resolved observation of the delayed dissociation allows us to quantitatively determine the relative fragment yields of the respective decay channels as a fun…

Search for second generation scalar leptoquarks in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV with the ATLAS detector

2012

The results of a search for the production of second generation scalar leptoquarks are presented for final states consisting of either two muons and at least two jets or a muon plus missing transverse momentum and at least two jets. A total of 1.03 fb−1 integrated luminosity of proton-proton collision data produced by the Large Hadron Collider at \(\sqrt{s}=7~\mbox{TeV}\) and recorded by the ATLAS detector is used for the search. The event yields in the signal regions are found to be consistent with the Standard Model background expectations. The production of second generation leptoquarks is excluded for a leptoquark mass mLQ<594 (685) GeV at 95 % confidence level, for a branching ratio of…

Averages of $b$-hadron, $c$-hadron, and $\tau$-lepton properties as of summer 2016

2017

This article reports world averages of measurements of $b$-hadron, $c$-hadron, and $\tau$-lepton properties obtained by the Heavy Flavor Averaging Group using results available through summer 2016. For the averaging, common input parameters used in the various analyses are adjusted (rescaled) to common values, and known correlations are taken into account. The averages include branching fractions, lifetimes, neutral meson mixing parameters, \CP~violation parameters, parameters of semileptonic decays and CKM matrix elements.

Search for anomalous production of prompt like-sign muon pairs and constraints on physics beyond the Standard Model with the ATLAS detector

2012

An inclusive search for anomalous production of two prompt, isolated muons with the same electric charge is presented. The search is performed in a data sample corresponding to 1.6  fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected in 2011 at √s=7  TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Muon pairs are selected by requiring two isolated muons of the same electric charge with pT>20  GeV and |η|<2.5. Minimal requirements are placed on the rest of the event activity. The distribution of the invariant mass of the muon pair m(μμ) is found to agree well with the background expectation. Upper limits on the cross section for anomalous production of two muons with the same electric charge are placed as a func…
