The ambiguities of "granted constitutionalism" : a transatlantic debate (III)
2018
Our journey ends in Brazil. According to textbooks of constitutional history, this "periphery" country, recently independent, looked with envy at the European and North American constitutional novelties, not without trying to maintain its identity. Olhos na Europa, pés na América? Doubtless ; still it is necessary to measure the extent of this "Europe", admired in space as in time. The doctrine, criticizing the granted Constitution of 1824, qualified of nominal, had too long hid the reality, even the efficiency, of a constitutionalism in singular outlines, which involves both social and institutional engineering, thus not reducible to the modern constitutionalism. The political actors of Br…
Para uma cooperação da escuta e do movimento: Estudo intercultural sobre a percepção dos ritmos tradicionais do Xangô (Olinda, PE)
2010
Combining musical cognition and ethnomusicological approaches, this article seeks to verify if the capacity of recognizing and actually doing the appropriate beat of musical rhythms after listening to musical excerpts is influenced by the movements of the body. We would like to show to what extent variables like "musical competence" ("musicians" and "non-musicians") and "cultural origin" ("Brazilians" and "French") do influence such capacity. We try to answer these questions by applying an experimental protocol designed for that end. The musical rhythms used in the experiment are drawn from the musical and religious traditions of the xangô african-brazilian cult, as they are practiced in Ol…
Ceramique/metal component elaborated by flash sintering for ballistic protection
2012
This dissertation describes the synthesis of new components for ballistic protection with the assistance of flash sintering. Indeed, the objective is to associate two compounds showing very different sintering temperatures – such as alumina and aluminum, two reference materials for ballistic protection applications. The first synthesis method tested was the elaboration of a bi-material via the sintering of aluminump owder on alumina bulks. This study permitted to observe the formation of the alumina/aluminum bonding by scanning and transmission electron microscopy and to optimize the assembly parameters in order to obtain a bimaterials howing a strong interfacial cohesion. Adapted characteri…
Bioetyki kulturowe w Ameryce Łacińskiej
2017
Niewspółmierność problematyki paradygmatów bioetyki zachodniej do realiów krajów łacińskich doprowadziła do przewartościowania i prób wypracowania własnej, swoistej, bardziej adekwatnej bioetyki kulturowej.
Electrochemical identification of flavonoid dyes in solid work of art samples by abrasive voltammetry at paraffin-impregnated graphite electrodes.
2004
Abstract An electrochemical method for identifying flavonoid-type dyes in microsamples from works of art is reported. Square wave voltammograms of natural insoluble dyestuffs based on flavonoid structure dragoon's blood, weld, old fustic, gamboge, Brazilwood and logwood (Campeche wood) attached to paraffin-impregnated graphite electrodes in contact with 0.25 M HAc + 0.25 M NaAc aqueous buffer display characteristic peaks in the potential region between +0.85 and −0.85 V versus AgCl/Ag. Sequential experiments in contact with 0.05 M AlCl 3 and 0.05 M Na 2 MoO 4 plus HAc/NaAc and 0.05 M H 3 BO 3 + 0.10 M NaOH solutions also provide dye-characteristic signals allowing for an unambiguous identi…
Dental pain associated with untreated dental caries and sociodemographic factors in 5-year-old children
2020
Background The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of dental pain and to examine its association with untreated dental caries in 5-year-old children. Material and Methods This was a cross-sectional study of 261 5-year-old children in Northeast Brazil. Parents answered questions about their socioeconomic conditions and their children's toothache. Trained dentists assessed dental caries using the decayed, missing and filled teeth (dmf-t) index. Binary logistic regression models were used to estimate the unadjusted and adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and the confidence intervals (95% CIs) for the association of dental pain with covariates. The significance level was set at five percent. …
Multiple sediment proxies from Jaraguá cave, Brazil
2019
Multiple paleoclimate, paleovegetation and paleoenvironmental records from Jaraguá cave, located at center of South America. In this dataset that covers the last 28,000 year is included δ13C and δ18O values and 87Sr/86Sr ratios in stalagmites combined with XRF-derived elemental chemistry, δ13Corg, total organic carbon and total inorganic carbon (carbonate) in a sedimentary profile from the same cave.
Social Capital And Commitment in the Brazilian Wine Industry
2012
The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the literature on organizational social capital and organizational commitment in collaborative networks context. Firstly, we identified the most important elements that compound these two concepts. In order to do that, we surveyed 193 employees of 74 companies' members of a food network - the Brazilian Wine Industry Cluster. Finally, we sought to better understand the relationship between commitment and social capital. The results show that affective and normative organizational commitments enchance social capital development, specially in relational and cognitive dimensions. These findings revealed that employeed may execute some tasks as a way…
Transition from glass to digital slide microscopy in the teaching of oral pathology in a Brazilian dental school
2014
Objectives: Several medical and dental schools have described their experience in the transition from conventional to digital microscopy in the teaching of general pathology and histology disciplines; however, this transitional process has scarcely been reported in the teaching of oral pathology. Therefore, the objective of the current study is to report the transition from conventional glass slide to virtual microscopy in oral pathology teaching, a unique experience in Latin America. Study Design: An Aperio ScanScope® scanner was used to digitalize histological slides used in practical lectures of oral pathology. The challenges and benefits observed by the group of Professors from the Pira…
