Synthesis and properties of dinuclear Ru(II)/Os(II) complexes based on a heteroditopic phenanthroline-terpyridine bridging ligand.

2010

The synthesis and characterization of a series of mono- and dinuclear ruthenium(II) and osmium(II) polypyridyl complexes based on the heteroditopic bridging ligand PT are reported. This ligand incorporates bidentate phen (1,10-phenanthroline) and terdentate tpy (2,2':6',2''-terpyridine) units directly connected by their 3 and 5 positions, respectively. The dinuclear complexes have been synthesized via a Pd(0) catalyzed cross-coupling reaction between a bromo-substituted Ru-phen complex and a tpy derivative incorporating a boronate ester, followed by Ru(II) or Os(II) complexation. The compounds obtained are fully characterized using spectroscopic and electrochemical measurements. The electro…

Towards formalised end-user participation in information systems development process

2006

Creating requirements specifications is one of the most challenging tasks in the systems development. For a complete specification, different kinds of information are gathered. This includes information about the domain and context specific technical issues, and about multifaceted cultural, political, communicational, motivational, and personal issues. As there is no information systems development (ISD) method that would yield such information comprehensively, it could be achieved by user-oriented approaches, for instance by participatory design (PD). Reciprocally, unfortunately those do not provide detailed instructions for the systems development. In this paper, we will present our exper…

A Technique for Power Supply Harmonic Impedance Estimation Using a Controlled Voltage Disturbance

2002

A method for power system impedance estimation is presented. The method employs a power converter to inject a voltage transient onto the supply system. As the technique employs controlled power electronic devices it may be used as a stand alone piece of a portable measurement equipment, or it may be embedded into the functions of an active shunt filter for improved harmonic control. The impedance is estimated through correlation of the measured voltage and current transients. Simulations and experimental results demonstrate the measurement technique is highly accurate and effective.

Narrative process modes as a bridging concept for the theory, research and clinical practice of systemic therapy

2005

This article is concerned with the relationships which hold between the clinical practice and the theory of family therapy; and between these and academic research. These relationships are seen as tenuous and thin because, in the first place, there is a lack of rigorous theoretical underpinning; and second, the research methods employed do not fit in with current family therapy practice, and with the theory that underlies this practice. The role of the concept of narrative process modes is proposed as a bridging and mediating one. The external, internal and reflective narrative process modes are seen as relevant from the point of view of family therapy process research, and the clinical pra…

Discovering learning paths on a domain ontology using natural language interaction

2005

The present work investigates the problem of determining a learning path inside a suitable domain ontology. The proposed approach enables the user of a web learning application to interact with the system using natural language in order to browse the ontology itself. The course related knowledge is arranged as a three level hierarchy: content level, symbolic level, and conceptual level bridging the previous ones. The implementation of the ontological, the interaction, and the presentation component inside the TutorJ system is explained, and the first results are presented.

Estimation of power supply harmonic impedance using a controlled voltage disturbance

2002

A novel method for power system impedance estimation is presented. The method employs a power converter to inject a voltage transient onto the supply system. Bridging human and machine learning for the needs of collective intelligence development

2020

There are no doubts that artificial and human intelligence enhance and complement each other. They are stronger together as a team of Collective (Collaborative) Intelligence. Both require training for personal development and high performance. However, the approaches to training (human vs. machine learning) are traditionally very different. If one needs efficient hybrid collective intelligence team, e.g. for managing processes within the Industry 4.0, then all the team members have to learn together. In this paper we point out the need for bridging the gap between the human and machine learning, so that some approaches used in machine learning will be useful for humans and vice-versa, some …

Exchange interactions through hydrogen-bond bridges. Crystal structure, spectroscopic characterisation and magnetic properties of the complex [{Cu(en…

1998

Abstract The structure and spectroscopic and magnetic properties of [{Cu(en)}2(μ-egta)]·4H2O (H4egta = 3,12-bis(carboxymethyl)-6–9-dio 3,12-diazatetradecanedioic acid) are described. The compound is built of centrosymmetric neutral dimeric {[Cu(en)}2(μ-egta)] entities linked through hydrogen bonds involving water molecules. -NH2 groups and -CO2 groups, affording a three-dimensional framework. The egta anion displays an opened-up structure acting as a bridging ligand between two copper atoms. The coordination geometry about the metal atoms can be viewed as 4 + 1 + 1 (CuN3OO′O″ chromophores). The EPR spectra are indicative of an essentially dv−v ground state for the copper(II) ions. The preparation, IR spectrum and structure of the Di-μ3-hydroxo-μ-sulphatotetrakis-μ-(isonicotinato-N-oxide)tetraaqua-tetracopper(II)

1982

Abstract A very unusual new copper(II) complex with isonicotinate N-oxide (N-inicO), Cu4(N-inicO)4SO4(OH)2(H2O)4 has been prepared and its crystal and molecular structure determined from three dimensional X-ray diffraction data. The crystals belong to the monoclinic space group C2. The cell parameters are a = 19.089(8), b = 6.884(3), c = 19.533(12) A, β = 140.9(3)°, dobs = 1.99, dcalc = 2.01 and Z = 2. The structure was refined to a final R-value of 0.062. The monomeric tetranuclear complex resembles a space ship with the sulphate group at its top and pyridine rings as wings. Two copper atoms are very close to each other in the molecule; the Cu1Cu1′ distance is 2.885 A. The coordination ar…
