This provides a different aspect of the heterogeneity as it concerns brand extension.Design/methodology/approachNestlé was selected as the brand to be studied and two qualitative studies were carried out on students based on open‐ended interviews. After a pre‐test, two groups of 400 students were selected. Replicating consumer value scales: A comparative study of EVS and PERVAL at a cultural heritage site

2021

Abstract PERVAL (PERceived VALue) scale has been frequently replicated and adapted in tourism to measure consumer value; however, EVS (Experiential Value Scale) better reflects the experiential nature of tourism consumption. Focusing on a famous cultural heritage site in France (Chambord castle), this research compares PERVAL and EVS by replicating them as concisely as possible. The results of a quantitative survey of 402 visitors show the similarities and dissimilarities between these two scales regarding their psychometric properties, predictive ability, practicality, and actionability. In contrast to a literature review (favoring PERVAL scale for tourism), this research underlines the co…

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the structural dimensions of a new museal offer, museoparks, which use edutainment and more generally re‐enchantment strategies.Design/methodology/approachTo bring out the symbolic dimensions specific to these cultural sites, the methodology used is based on the analysis of photographic media.FindingsThe analysis reveals four main symbolic dimensions structuring these hybrid cultural offers: spectacularization, immersive character, ritualized character, and very intense merchandizing of the experience.Research limitations/implicationsThis analysis allows us to update a hybrid, complex and re‐sized form of cultural experience that goes beyond t…
