The molecule of the title Schiff base compound, C16H16N4O5S·C3H7NO, displays atransconformation with respect to the C=N double bond. The C—N and N—N bonds are relatively short compared to their normal bond lengths, indicating some degree of delocalization in the molecule. The molecule is bent at the S atom, with an S—N—C—C torsion angle of 164.48 (11)°. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 84.594 (7)°. Crystal structure of the tripeptideN-(benzyloxycarbonyl)glycylglycyl-L-norvaline

The title tripeptide, C17H23N3O6, contains a nonproteinogenic C-terminal amino acid residue, norvaline, which is an isomer of the amino acid valine. Norvaline, unlike valine, has an unbranched side chain. The molecule has a Gly–Gly segment which adopts an extended conformation. The norvaline residue also adopts an extended backbone conformation while its side chain has ag+tconformation. In the crystal lattice, N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds stabilize the packing. Molecules translated along the crystallographicaaxis associate through an N—H...O hydrogen bond. The remaining three hydrogen bonds are between molecules related by a21screw axis.

Exciton and multiexciton optical properties of single InAs/GaAs site-controlled quantum dots

We have studied the optical properties of InAs site-controlled quantum dots (SCQDs) grown on pre-patterned GaAs substrates. Since InAs nucleates preferentially on the lithography motifs, the location of the resulting QDs is determined by the pattern, which is fabricated by local oxidation nanolithography. Optical characterization has been performed on such SCQDs to study the fundamental and excited states. At the ground state different exciton complex transitions of about 500 μeV linewidth have been identified and the fine structure splitting of the neutral exciton has been determined (≈65 μeV). Electrocatalytic properties of manganese and cobalt polyporphine films toward oxygen reduction reaction

Reactivity of bis(cyclohexylammonium) 4-nitrophenylphosphate with SnMe3 Cl. X-ray structure of 4-NO2 C6 H4 PO4(SnMe3)2·H2 O

The reaction of bis(cyclohexylammonium) 4-nitrophenylphosphate with Me3 SnCl (1:2) under reflux in ethanol yielded the title compound 4-NO2 C6 H4 PO4(SnMe3)2H2 O (1). The X-ray crystallographic analysis achieved on single crystals obtained by slow evaporation at room temperature revealed the formation of an unexpected supramolecular coordination network. The elementary building block can be viewed as two Me3 Sn moieties linked by a bridging 4-nitrophenylphosphate ligand. The two tin atoms are five-coordinated and describe a trans-Me3 SnO2 geometry in a trigonal bipyramidal arrangement. However, the Sn atoms are distinct, exhibiting two different environments. Modeling long-range memory with stationary Markovian processes

In this paper we give explicit examples of power-law correlated stationary Markovian processes y(t) where the stationary pdf shows tails which are gaussian or exponential. These processes are obtained by simply performing a coordinate transformation of a specific power-law correlated additive process x(t), already known in the literature, whose pdf shows power-law tails 1/x^a. Thermoelectric Radiation Detector Based on Superconductor-Ferromagnet Systems

We suggest an ultrasensitive detector of electromagnetic fields exploiting the giant thermoelectric effect recently found in superconductor-ferromagnet hybrid structures. Compared with other types of superconducting detectors where the detected signal is based on variations of the detector impedance, the thermoelectric detector has the advantage of requiring no external driving fields. This is especially relevant in multipixel detectors, where the number of bias lines and the heating induced by them are an issue. Imaging Spin Dynamics on the Nanoscale Using X-Ray Microscopy

The dynamics of emergent magnetic quasiparticles, such as vortices, domain walls and bubbles are studied by scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM), combining magnetic (XMCD) contrast with about 25 nm lateral resolution as well as 70 ps time resolution. Essential progress in the understanding of magnetic vortex dynamics is achieved by vortex core reversal observed by sub-GHz excitation of the vortex gyromode, either by ac magnetic fields or spin transfer torque. The basic switching scheme for this vortex core reversal is the generation of a vortex-antivortex pair. Polymorphism and versatile solvate formation of thiophanate-methyl

The polymorphism of a fungicide, thiophanate-methyl (TM), was investigated with conventional solvent screening methods. Two polymorphs, the thermodynamically most stable form I and the less stable form II, were found. TM was also found to crystallize as a plethora of different solvates which produced mostly form II upon desolvation. The structures of form I and form II and the fourteen discovered solvates were solved by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The most stable forms were further characterized by powder diffraction, thermoanalytical (TG/DTA, DSC and thermomicroscopy) and spectroscopic (IR, Raman, ¹³C CP/MAS NMR) methods. peerReviewed
