Collection Principles in Dependent Type Theory

2002

We introduce logic-enriched intuitionistic type theories, that extend intuitionistic dependent type theories with primitive judgements to express logic. By adding type theoretic rules that correspond to the collection axiom schemes of the constructive set theory CZF we obtain a generalisation of the type theoretic interpretation of CZF. Suitable logic-enriched type theories allow also the study of reinterpretations of logic. We end the paper with an application to the double-negation interpretation.

Automata and differentiable words

2011

We exhibit the construction of a deterministic automaton that, given k > 0, recognizes the (regular) language of k-differentiable words. Our approach follows a scheme of Crochemore et al. based on minimal forbidden words. We extend this construction to the case of C\infinity-words, i.e., words differentiable arbitrary many times. We thus obtain an infinite automaton for representing the set of C\infinity-words. We derive a classification of C\infinity-words induced by the structure of the automaton. Then, we introduce a new framework for dealing with \infinity-words, based on a three letter alphabet. This allows us to define a compacted version of the automaton, that we use to prove that ev…

Parsimony hierarchies for inductive inference

2004

AbstractFreivalds defined an acceptable programming system independent criterion for learning programs for functions in which the final programs were required to be both correct and “nearly” minimal size. i.e.. within a computable function of being purely minimal size. Kinber showed that this parsimony requirement on final programs limits learning power. However, in scientific inference, parsimony is considered highly desirable. Alim-computable functionis (by definition) one calculable by a total procedure allowed to change its mind finitely many times about its output. Investigated is the possibility of assuaging somewhat the limitation on learning power resulting from requiring parsimonio…

Heyting-valued interpretations for Constructive Set Theory

2006

AbstractWe define and investigate Heyting-valued interpretations for Constructive Zermelo–Frankel set theory (CZF). These interpretations provide models for CZF that are analogous to Boolean-valued models for ZF and to Heyting-valued models for IZF. Heyting-valued interpretations are defined here using set-generated frames and formal topologies. As applications of Heyting-valued interpretations, we present a relative consistency result and an independence proof.

The generalised type-theoretic interpretation of constructive set theory

2006

We present a generalisation of the type-theoretic interpretation of constructive set theory into Martin-Löf type theory. The generalisation involves replacing Martin-Löf type theory with a new type theory in which logic is treated as primitive instead of being formulated via the propositions-as-types representation. The original interpretation treated logic in Martin-Löf type theory via the propositions-as-types interpretation. The generalisation involves replacing Martin-Löf type theory with a new type theory in which logic is treated as primitive. The primitive treatment of logic in type theories allows us to study reinterpretations of logic, such as the double-negation translation.

A class of label-correcting methods for the K shortest paths problem

2001

In this paper we deal with the problem of finding the first K shortest paths from a single origin node to all other nodes of a directed graph. In particular, we define the necessary and sufficient conditions for a set of distance label vectors, on the basis of which we propose a class of methods which can be viewed as an extension of the generic label-correcting method for solving the classical single-origin all-destinations shortest path problem. The data structure used is characterized by a set of K lists of candidate nodes, and the proposed methods differ in the strategy used to select the node to be extracted at each iteration. The computational results show that: 1. some label-correct…

Matchings in three Catalan lattices

2003

In this note we consider a series of lattices that are enumerated by the well-known Catalan numbers. For each of these lattices, we exhibit a matching in a constructive way.

Dyck paths with a first return decomposition constrained by height

2018

International audience; We study the enumeration of Dyck paths having a first return decomposition with special properties based on a height constraint. We exhibit new restricted sets of Dyck paths counted by the Motzkin numbers, and we give a constructive bijection between these objects and Motzkin paths. As a byproduct, we provide a generating function for the number of Motzkin paths of height k with a flat (resp. with no flats) at the maximal height. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. Enumeration of Łukasiewicz paths modulo some patterns

2019

Abstract For any pattern α of length at most two, we enumerate equivalence classes of Łukasiewicz paths of length n ≥ 0 where two paths are equivalent whenever the occurrence positions of α are identical on these paths. As a byproduct, we give a constructive bijection between Motzkin paths and some equivalence classes of Łukasiewicz paths.
