Profiles and seasonal distribution of airborne fungi in indoor and outdoor environments at a French hospital
2009
International audience; A one-year prospective survey of fungal air contamination was conducted in outdoor air and inside two haematological units of a French hospital. Air was sampled with a portable Air System Impactor. During this period of survey, the mean viable fungal load was 122.1 cfu/m(3) in outdoor air samples, and 4.1 and 3.9 cfu/m(3) in samples from adult and pediatric haematology units, respectively. In outdoor samples, Cladosporium was the dominant genus (55%) while in the clinical units, Penicillium sp. (23 to 25%), Aspergillus sp. (15 to 23%) and Bjerkandera adusta (11 to 13%) were the most frequently recovered airborne fungi. The outdoor fungal load was far higher in autumn…
Decontamination of a barrier facility using microisolator cages and provisional partitioning
2007
In 2000, the authors found endemic infections of mouse hepatitis virus, minute virus of mice, Syphacia obvelata, and Myobia musculi among mice in a large barrier facility at the University of Mainz. To eliminate the infections, they subdivided the facility into two distinct hygiene units. However, architectural constraints made it impossible to completely separate the HVAC systems of both hygiene units and to establish adequate personnel locks. To compensate for these suboptimal barrier conditions of the two newly established units, the authors replaced the open-top caging and open-servicing system with filter-top cages that were manipulated in cage-changing stations. The authors then depop…

Interdependence of enthalpic and entropic contributions to the second osmotic virial coefficient
1972
The interdependence of the enthalpic contribution A2, H and the entropic contribution A2, s to the second osmotic virial coefficient for a given polymer-solvent system has been investigated from the experimental and the theoretical point of view. Experimentally, the following common facts were observed for various systems at temperatures and pressures below the critical values for the solvent. Both the isobaric and isothermal dependences can be approximated over relatively wide ranges of A2, H by linear relations with a slope deviating only slightly, but in a characteristic manner from a value of −1. When the temperature is increased at constant pressure one moves along an isobar towards hi…
Il progetto di Archeologia Virtuale ad Alesa Arconidea
2023
The Virtual Archaeology project at Alesa Arconidea · Virtual Archeology is the field of application that finalizes the use of information technologies for the knowledge, enhancement and communication of the archaeological heritage. It deals with the reconstruction of artifacts, buildings, landscapes of the past through three-dimensional models, hypertexts and multimedia solutions. The goal of Virtual Archeology is to promote the development of formalized investigation procedures and methodologies to acquire, represent, process and communicate data while producing new information and research tools that go beyond traditional forms and bring a contribution to the progress of the studies and p…
La ricostruzione tridimensionale e il restauro virtuale di una tomba etrusca dipinta dell’Etruria meridionale interna: la “Grotta Dipinta” di Pranzov…
2015
[EN] The paper concerns the 3D reconstruction and virtual restoration of a painted rock-cut chamber tombs located in the interior of Southern Etruria (Viterbo Province, Central Italy). The tomb was discovered in 1901 in a place named Pranzovico and it dates from the mid-fifth century BC; it has a cross plan with central atrium (decorated with paintings) and three chambers in which there are the rock-cut funerary beds. The paintings have been largely destroyed by illegal excavators in the days immediately following the discovery; during the 20th century it was damaged due to agricultural works in the surroundings and now it is partially filled up. Its 3D reconstruction is based on the scarce…
Un progetto di Archeologia Virtuale a Soknopaiou Nesos nella regione del Fayyum: stato dell’arte e prospettive di ricerca
2016
This work illustrates the first results of the Project of Virtual Archaeology which is now developed by a team of topographer from Salento University (Lecce) together with the équipe of Archaeological Mission of Centro di Studi Papirologici at Soknopaiou Nesos (Fayyum, Egypt). Article also focuses on the main aims of this project : a topographical survey and virtual reconstruction of monuments, digital analysis of data, representation of urban and suburban landscape and their evolution, achievement of a special platform for using the data both on-line and off-line. Keywords : Virtual Archaeology, Soknopaiou Nesos, Archaeological Mission.
Lo studio ricostruttivo della Torre Mozza nel castello Carlo V di Lecce: dall'analisi dei dati materiali alla restituzione in 3D
2022
The multi-year research activity, carried out under the direction of the Chair of Medieval Archaeology of the University of Salento, has allowed the realization of this work of digital survey and virtual reconstruction of the so-called Tower Mozza in the castle of Charles V in Lecce
