Weakly controlled Moran constructions and iterated functions systems in metric spaces

We study the Hausdorff measures of limit sets of weakly controlled Moran constructions in metric spaces. The separation of the construction pieces is closely related to the Hausdorff measure of the corresponding limit set. In particular, we investigate different separation conditions for semiconformal iterated function systems. Our work generalizes well known results on self-similar sets in metric spaces as well as results on controlled Moran constructions in Euclidean spaces.

Biweights on Partial *-Algebras

This chapter is devoted to the systematic investigation of biweights on partial *-algebras. These are a generalization of invariant positive sesquilinear forms that still allows a Gel’fand—Naĭmark—Segal (GNS) construction of representations. In Section 9.1, we apply this GNS construction for biweights and we obtain *-representations and cyclic vector representations of partial *-algebras, and we give some examples of biweights. A geometrical constructive approach to infinitesimal analysis: epistemological potential and boundaries of tractional motion

Recent foundational approaches to Infinitesimal Analysis are essentially algebraic or computational, whereas the first approaches to such problems were geometrical. From this perspective, we may recall the seventeenth-century investigations of the “inverse tangent problem.” Suggested solutions to this problem involved certain machines, intended as both theoretical and actual instruments, which could construct transcendental curves through so-called tractional motion. Splitting Magnitude Response into Real and Imaginary Parts

The determination of real and imaginary parts from magnitude responses is studied for causal linear time-invariant systems having monotonic impulse responses. It is demonstrated that the problem can be interpreted as a special filtering task in the Mellin transform domain having a diffuse magnitude response bounded by the magnitude responses of the filters corresponding to zero and maximum imaginary parts prescribed by the Kronig-Kramers relations. Discrete-time filters processing geometrically sampled magnitude responses are designed for determining the real and imaginary parts. Testing results are presented verifying the performance of the filters.

Isola delle Femmine Natural Reserve is a very little isle about 15 km from the centre of Palermo, in front of a plant for the production of cement and about 600 m from coast. In the present research, profiles soil PAHs were obtained for 16 sites within the reserve and for 8 stations on the rural soil taken as reference. summation Sigma PAHs, in the soil of investigated area, ranged from 35 to 545 microg/kg.
