Annealing reactions in lead implanted copper

2002

Abstract The terminal solubility of Pb in Cu is extremely low and does not exceed 0.09 at.% at 875 K. Ion implantation of lead ions at 100 keV into Cu single crystals produces metastable solutions. Annealing of the samples causes redistribution of the implanted atoms to equilibrium or near-equilibrium aggregate states which may be reflected in a change in the type of impurity lattice location in the host matrix. We have studied the effect of annealing on single crystalline Cu implanted at temperatures around 375 K with Pb to a concentration of a 1–2 at.%. Rutherford backscattering/channeling analysis and transmission electron microscopy of the as-implanted samples have shown that the implan…

Yrast superdeformed band in59Cu

2000

High-spin states in Cu-59 were populated using the fusion-evaporation reactions Si-28+ Ca-40 at a beam energy of 125 MeV and Ar-36+Si-28 at a beam energy of 143 MeV. The Gammasphere array in conjunction with ancillary detector systems allowed for the identification of a superdeformed rotational band in Cu-59, which was firmly linked to low-spin yrast states. Using directional correlations of oriented states, a spin-parity assignment of I-pi=25/2(+) to the band head was possible. The average quadrupole moment of the band is measured to be Q(t)=(2.24+/-0.40) e b. The characteristics of the band are compared to neighboring nuclei and predictions of different mean-field theories.

(1,3,4‐Oxadiazole)copper(II) Compounds: Dimensionality, Magnetism and Nuclease Activity

2009

The work presented here describes the synthesis of new copper(II) complexes derived from 2-amino-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (L1) and 2-methylamino-5-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (L2) which also incorporate azido (N3 -), thiocyanato (NCS-), cyanato (NCO-), dicyanamido [N(CN)2 -, dca] and malonato (C3H2O4 2-, mal) coligands. Structures of the [Cu(L2)(mal)(H2O)]·2H 2O(1), [{Cu(L2)(mal)}2] (2), [Cu(L 2)2-(NCS)2] (3), [Cu(L1)(NCS) 2]n (4) and [{Cu(L2)}2(dca) 2](ClO4)2·2H2O (5) compounds show the dependence of the dimensionality on parameters such as the type of oxadiazole and coligand utilised, solvents or reaction times. In this sense, 1 and 3 are mononuclear complexes, 2 contains cen…

Structural characterisation and nuclease activity of mixed copper(II) complexes with sulfonamides and bipyridil

2003

Mixed copper complexes have been synthetised through reaction of Cu(II) salts with bipyridil and N-quinolin-8-yl-p-toluenesulfonamide (Hqtsa), N-quinolin-8-yl-benzenesulfonamide (Hqbsa) or N-quinolin-8-yl-naftalenesulfonamide (Hqnsa). Single crystal X-ray diffraction structure determination shows that copper cations are five-coordinated, one complex have distorted bipyramidal trigonal geometry and the other have a distorted square-pyramid. The FT IR and EPR spectra are also reported. Electrophoresis results show that the synthetised complexes in the presence of ascorbate and hydrogen peroxide are chemical nucleases.

Bimodal copper oxide nanoparticles doped phase for the extraction of highly polar compounds by in-tube solid-phase microextraction coupled on-line to…

2020

Abstract Polymers obtained from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and triethoxymethylsilane (MTEOS) have been functionalized with different metal and metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs), and used as coatings of extractive capillaries for the extraction of polar compounds by in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) coupled on-line to nano-liquid chromatography (nano-LC). The extraction capabilities of the new phases have been studied using several triazinic herbicides with log of octanol/water partition coefficients (Kow) ranging from -0.7 to 3.21 under reversed phase chromatographic conditions. Best extraction efficiencies for the most polar compounds (log Kow ≤ 2.3) were typically obtained …

Complexes of Ni(II) and Cu(II) with ofloxacin. Crystal structure of a new Cu(II) ofloxacin complex.

2001

Several coordination compounds formed between Ni(II) or Cu(II) with ofloxacin have been synthesised and characterised. According to elemental chemical analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy data, direct reaction of Ni(II) and Cu(II) salts with ofloxacin leads to formation of precipitates for which mass spectrometry demonstrates their polymeric nature. However, crystalline [Cu(oflo)2(H2O)].2H2O is formed if the reaction is carried out in the presence of ammonia. This complex crystallises in the triclinic system, space group P-1 with a=9.2887(12), b=11.2376(14), c=17.874(2) A, alpha=92.12(3), beta=95.39(3), gamma=91.71(3) degrees and Z=2. The local geometry around the Cu(II) ion is a slightly distor…

Bridging vs. Chelating Coordination Modes of Vinylsilanes in CuIπ-Complexes: Structure and Stability

2013

Two new copper(I) olefin complexes, [Cu6Cl6(MTrVS)2] (1) and [Cu2Cl2(DMVSP)2] (2), of tridentate bridging methyltrivinylsilane (MTrVS) and bidentate chelating 2-[dimethyl(vinyl)silyl]pyridine (DMVSP) have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. It has been shown that using the alkenylsilanes with required electronic properties, molecular symmetry and conformational flexibility, it is possible to control the formation of optimal copper(I) halide oligomers. The obtained results, together with relevant literature data, also illustrate how the coordination mode of vinylsilanes is related to Cu–(C=C) bond strengthening and, conse…

Copper(I) Bromide: An Alternative Emitter for Blue-Colored Flame Pyrotechnics.

2015

Copper(I) bromide was evaluated as an alternative emitter for blue flame pyrotechnic compositions. CuBr and CuCl emission spectra were recorded from a butane torch flame and compared. Cu(BrO3 )2 was synthesized and used in pyrotechnic compositions as an oxidizer and the source for the generation of CuBr species. Pyrotechnic compositions, which contained copper and potassium bromates as oxidizers, were optimized for the generation of blue flames. The experimental data, including emission spectra of the flames, chromaticity coordinates, burning rates, luminous intensities, and sensitivity tests, were analyzed and compared.

Dicopper(II) Metallacyclophanes with Electroswitchable Polymethyl-Substitutedpara-Phenylene Spacers

2013

Double-stranded anionic dinuclear copper(II) metallacyclic complexes of the paracyclophane type [Cu2L2]4- have been prepared by the CuII-mediated self-assembly of different para-phenylenebis(oxamato) bridging ligands with either zero-, one-, or four-electron-donating methyl substituents (L=N,N′-para- phenylenebis(oxamate) (ppba; 1), 2-methyl- N,N′-para-phenylenebis(oxamate) (Meppba; 2), and 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl- N,N′-para-phenylenebis(oxamate) (Me4ppba; 3)). These complexes have been isolated as their tetra-n-butylammonium (1 a-3 a), lithium(I) (1 b-3 b), and tetraphenylphosphonium salts (1 c-3 c). The X-ray crystal structures of 1 a and 3 c show a parallel-displaced π-stacked conformation w…
