Current induced chiral domain wall motion in CuIr/CoFeB/MgO thin films with strong higher order spin–orbit torques

2020

We investigate the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI) and spin–orbit torque effects in CuIr/CoFeB/MgO heterostructures. To this end, harmonic Hall measurements and current induced domain wall motion experiments are performed. The motion of domain walls at zero applied field due to current demonstrates the presence of DMI in this system. We determine the strength of the DMI to be D = + 5 ± 3 μ J / m 2 and deduce right-handed chirality in domain walls showing a partial Neel type spin structure. To ascertain the torques, we perform a second harmonic measurement to quantify the damping- and field-like current induced effective fields as a function of the magnetization direction. From the a…

Enhancement of the Spin Pumping Effect by Magnon Confluence Process in YIG/Pt Bilayers

2019

The experimental investigation of the spin pumping process by dipolar‐exchange magnons parametrically excited in in‐plane magnetized yttrium iron garnet/platinum bilayers is presented. The electric voltage generated in the platinum layer via the inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) results from contributions of two opposite spin currents formed by the longitudinal spin Seebeck effect and by the spin pumping from parametric magnons. In the field‐dependent measurements of the spin pumping‐induced component of the ISHE‐voltage, a clearly visible sharp peak is detected at high pumping powers. It is found that the peak position is determined by the process of confluence of two parametrically excited …

Highly Anisotropic Rhenium(IV) Complexes: New Examples of Mononuclear Single-Molecule Magnets

2013

The rhenium(IV) complex (NBu4)2[ReBr4(ox)] (1) (ox = oxalate and NBu4(+) = tetra-n-butylammonium cation) has been prepared and its crystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction. The structure is made up of discrete [ReBr4(ox)](2-) anions and bulky NBu4(+) cations. Each [ReBr4(ox)](2-) anion is surrounded by six NBu4(+) cations, which preclude any significant intermolecular contact between the anionic entities, the shortest rhenium···rhenium distance being 9.373(1) Å. Variable temperature dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements and field-dependent magnetization experiments on polycrystalline samples of 1 reveal the occurrence of highly anisotropic magnetically isolated Re(IV) cent…

Gauge theory of the long-range proximity effect and spontaneous currents in superconducting heterostructures with strong ferromagnets

2017

We present the generalized quasiclassical theory of the long-range superconducting proximity effect in heterostructures with strong ferromagnets, where the exchange splitting is of the order of Fermi energy. In the ferromagnet the propagation of equal-spin Cooper pairs residing on the spin-split Fermi surfaces is shown to be governed by the spin-dependent Abelian gauge field which results either from the spin-orbital coupling or from the magnetic texture. This additional gauge field enters into the quasiclassical equations in superposition with the usual electromagnetic vector potential and results in the generation of spontaneous superconducting currents and phase shifts in various geometr…

Vibronic Model for Intercommunication of Localized Spins via Itinerant Electron

2019

In this article, we propose a vibronic pseudo Jahn–Teller model for partially delocalized mixed-valence molecules aimed to describe the magnetic coupling between the localized spins mediated by the delocalized electron. The simplest partially delocalized system that retains the main studied features is assumed to consist of a one-electron mixed-valence dimer, which is connected to the two terminal magnetic ions. The model involves the following key interactions: electron transfer in the spin-delocalized subsystem of a mixed-valence molecule, which is mimicked by a dimeric unit, coupling of the itinerant electrons with the molecular vibrations, and isotropic magnetic exchange between the loc…

Mixed topological semimetals driven by orbital complexity in two-dimensional ferromagnets

2018

The concepts of Weyl fermions and topological semimetals emerging in three-dimensional momentum space are extensively explored owing to the vast variety of exotic properties that they give rise to. On the other hand, very little is known about semimetallic states emerging in two-dimensional magnetic materials, which present the foundation for both present and future information technology. Here, we demonstrate that including the magnetization direction into the topological analysis allows for a natural classification of topological semimetallic states that manifest in two-dimensional ferromagnets as a result of the interplay between spin-orbit and exchange interactions. We explore the emerg…

Flux flow spin Hall effect in type-II superconductors with spin-splitting field

2019

We predict the very large spin Hall effect in type-II superconductors which mechanism is drastically different from the previously known ones. We find that in the flux-flow regime the spin is transported by the spin-polarized Abrikosov vortices moving under the action of the Lorenz force in the direction perpendicular to the applied electric current. Due to the large vortex velocities the spin Hall angle can be of the order of unity in realistic systems based on the high-field superconductors or the recently developed superconductor/ferromagnetic insulator proximity structures. We propose the realization of high-frequency pure spin current generator based on the periodic structure of moving…
