Index-based triangulation method for efficient generation of large three-dimensional ultrasonic C-scans

The demand for high-speed ultrasonic scanning of large and complex components is driven by a desire to reduce production bottlenecks during the non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of critical parts. Emerging systems (including robotic inspection) allow for the collection of large volumes of data in short time spans, compared to existing inspection systems. To maximise throughput, it is crucial that the reconstructed inspection datasets are generated and evaluated rapidly without loss of detail. Stress Transfer within CNT Fibres: A FEA Approach

Abstract Carbon nanotube (CNT) fibres are characterized by extreme anisotropy in their structure and physical properties. These fibres have been shown to have high axial strength, but poor shear strength between carbon nanotubes; for this reason it is difficult to transfer stress uniformly acrossthe fibre cross section. Here, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to predict the stress distribution and the stress-strain curves of CNT fibres. The resultsdemonstrate that, in accordance with St. Venant principle,very considerable length-to-diameter ratios (> 10 3 ) are required to obtain a uniform stress distribution within the fibres even in the presence of low applied strain.

Optimization of the characteristic angles of both front and rear McPherson suspensions on a circular track using multi-body numerical simulation

The research reported in this paper aims to simulate the road-holding of a virtual vehicle using multi-body simulation to estimate both the contact forces between the tyre and ground and the roll motion when cornering. Furthermore, the effect of the characteristic angles on the variation in the forces of the tyre in contact with the ground is studied to determine optimal values for these angles. L'antico campanile della cattedrale di Lecce si trovava in una posizione diversa rispetto a quello esistente costruito nel 1658. La maestosa torre, con cinque ordini e una terminazione a corona, era collocata di fianco all'antica facciata principale della chiesa, sul lato sinistro. Nel 1574 a causa di numerosi crolli, gli amministratori della chiesa decisero di avvalersi del parere tecnico di tre professionisti: Padoano Schiero, Padoano Baxi e Gabriele Meschinello, chiamati ad esprimersi in merito alla pericolosità di tali crolli e allo stato della torre.
