Magnetostructural correlations in CuII−NC−WV linkage: the case of [CuII(diimine)]2+−[WV(CN)8]3− 0D assemblies

International audience; We report on the syntheses, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of two cyano-bridged molecular assemblies: [CuII(phen)3]2{[CuII(phen)2]2[WV(CN)8]2}(ClO4)2·10H2O (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) (1) and {[CuII(bpy)2]2[WV(CN)8]} {[CuII(bpy)2][WV(CN)8]}·4H2O (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridyl) (2). Compound 1 consists of cyano-bridged [CuII2WV2]2− molecular rectangles and isolated [CuII(phen)3]2+ complexes. The molecular structure of 2 reveals cyano-bridged trinuclear [CuII2WV]+ and dinuclear [CuIIWV]− ions. Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of a cyanide-bridged heterometallic {CoIIMnIII} chain

The assembly reaction between the low-spin [CoII(dmphen)(CN)3]- metalloligand and the [MnIII(salen)(H2O)]+ complex cation yielded the one-dimensional compound {[MnIII(salen)(μ-NC)2CoII(dmphen)(CN)]·2H2O}n (1), which behaves as a ferrimagnetic chain, the intrachain magnetic coupling being J = -1.71(1) cm-1.

Molybdenum Pentachloride Mediated Synthesis of Spirocyclic Compounds by Intramolecular Oxidative Coupling

The oxidative treatment of (m)ethyl 2-aryl cinnamates equipped with methoxy groups in position 4 of the phenyl moiety promote the formation of cyclohexadienone substructures. This dealkylative oxidative C–C coupling gives access to spirocyclic compounds and avoids the construction of the corresponding phenanthrenes. Furthermore, the transformation can be expanded to other spirocyclic systems.

A generally accepted classification distinguishes semiconductor photocatalysis in type A and type B. The first class comprehends reactions where the primary redox products (radical anions and cations) further evolve giving rise to the final reduced and oxidized species. Magneto-structural correlations in asymmetric oxalato-bridged dicopper(II) complexes with polymethyl-substituted pyrazole ligands

Two oxalato-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complexes, [{Cu(Hdmpz)3}2(μ-ox)](ClO4)2·2H2O (1) and [{Cu(Htmpz)3}2(μ-ox)](ClO4)2·2H2O (2) (Hdmpz = 3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole and Htmpz = 3,4,5-trimethyl-1H-pyrazole), have been synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 consist of asymmetric bis-bidentate μ-oxalatodicopper(II) complex cations with two short [Cu–O = 1.976(2) (1) and 1.973(2) Å (2)] and two long copper–oxygen bonds [Cu–O = 2.122(2) (1) and 2.110(2) Å (2)]. Surface sediment dynamics along the shore of Hammamet Gulf (Tunisia, southern Mediterranean)

International audience; In the summer of 2015 the authors analysed grain size and surface sediment composition through high spatial resolution from samples taken at 53 stations along the Hammamet coast (southern Mediterranean Sea). The Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler deployed in this study showed that the surface current flows toward the north-east, parallel to the coast at a maximum speed along the main axis of about 5.9 cm s−1. Near the bottom the current flows toward the north-west at a maximum speed of 2.2 cm s−1. The tide plays a relatively small role in water circulation in Hammamet Gulf. The connection between solar-induced fluorescence (SIF) and vegetation gross primary productivity is being widely investigated across spatial, temporal, and biological scales, including: a) studies at the leaf [1], [2], plant canopy [2]–[4] or satellite pixel scale [5], [6], b) temporally with studies spanning from diurnal [7] to seasonal scales [1], [3], [5], and b) biologically with studies covering various plant functional types (PFTs), e.g., crops [4], [7], deciduous [8] or evergreen forests [1], [3], in response to different sources of stress.

Validation of HF radar sea surface currents in the Malta-Sicily Channel

Abstract A network of High-Frequency radar (HFR) stations runs operationally in the Malta-Sicily Channel (MSC), Central Mediterranean Sea, providing sea surface current maps with high temporal (1 h) and spatial (3 × 3 km) resolutions since August 2012. Comparisons with surface drifter data and near-surface Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) observations, as well as radar site-to-site baseline analyses, provide quantitative assessments of HFR velocities accuracy. Twenty-two drifters were deployed within the HFR domain of coverage between December 2012 and October 2013.
