Il progetto ECONET-COHAST: Strategie per la conservazione degli habitat costieri di Torre Manfria (Sicilia merid.)

The coexistence of several lithological substrata, together with particular geomorphologic and climatic features, are determining the exceptional floristic and faunistic interest of the coastal trait between Gela and Torre Manfria. In order to preserve and enhance coastal habitats, such area has been chosen as case-study in the Interreg project ECONET-COHAST, which involves six partners from four EU countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Malta). In this paper, the main features of the area are described and the approach followed in order to implement conservation strategies accounting for the local development exigencies is illustrated. © Società Italiana di Scienza della Vegetazione.

Cohesive-frictional interface in an equilibrium based finite element formulation

The Hybrid Equilibrium Element (HEE) formulation, with quadratic stress field is defined in the class of statically admissible solutions, which implicitly satisfy the homogeneous equilibrium equations. The inter-element equilibrium condition and the boundary equilibrium condition are exactly imposed by considering a quadratic displacement fields at the element sides, as an interfacial Lagrangian variable, in a classical hybrid formulation. In the Maltese Islands, insufficient attention has been paid to vermetid reefs, endemic Mediterranean bioconstructions widely distributed along the southern part of the basin. As a result, this is a largely-overlooked coastal ecosystem despite the multitude of ecosystem services it provides. The perennial urban development in the Maltese Islands calls for the adoption of urgent action to protect coastal habitats, in particular bioconstructions that increase biodiversity and contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change. Effect of fertilisation on the changes of soil pH and exchangeable aluminium content in soil

W pracy oceniono stopień zakwaszenia gleby oraz zawartość glinu wymiennego w zależności od rodzaju zastosowanego nawozu mineralnego oraz jego dawki. Badania prowadzono w oparciu o doświadczenie wazonowe z jęczmieniem jarym odmiany browarniczej Propino. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że największe zakwaszenie oraz największe zawartości glinu wymiennego stwierdza się w warunkach stosowania nawożenia w kombinacji NPK wraz z saletrą amonową. Zastosowany w różnych dawkach siarczan wapnia dwuwodny nie wpłynął na zmianę odczynu gleby, a odnotowana zawartość glinu wymiennego była niższa niż w kombinacji NPK wraz z saletrą amonową.

Autorka w artykule przywołuje opisy sposobów obchodzenia dnia św. Barbary, patronki górników, począwszy od XIX wieku do czasów współczesnych. Analizując obyczaj w tak długim czasie, mogła prześledzić proces przemian zachodzących w strategii świętowania tej uroczystości. Na odnotowywane przeobrażenia wpływały różne czynniki w zależności od okresu w dziejach regionu. W dobie pruskiej o pojawiających się nowych wariantach tego święta decydowały dwa czynniki.
