Was there a lunar eclipse that could have influenced the outcome of the Battle of Alesia? This is the argument developed in the book by Alain Deyber and David Romeuf, «Les Derniers Jours du Siège d'Alésia». Having verified the existence of an eclipse on the date given by the authors and based on the latest publications as well as on the scientific consensus, we conduct a critical study on the chronology of the siege and on the ethnological arguments, even ethno-astronomical of the authors.

Although this ecosystem is very diverse with dynamic changes taking place within it, there is a certain stability in the type and number of species, referred to as the core microbiome, found in 95% of the human population. Genetic variation of microorganisms is relatively small, and their functions are strictly defined and highly conservative. The microbiome exists symbiotically with the host, protecting it against colonization by pathogenic microorganisms, providing essential metabolites, and stimulating the immune system. Uterus transplantation is the first available treatment for absolute uterine infertility, which is caused by absence of the uterus or the presence of a non-functional uterus. Eleven human uterus transplantation attempts have been done worldwide but no livebirth has yet been reported.In 2013, a 35-year-old woman with congenital absence of the uterus (Rokitansky syndrome) underwent transplantation of the uterus in Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. Our purpose here is not to analyze again in detail the term oppidum and its definition, but rather to see how it was used in the specific context of Caesar’s Bellum ciuile. Previous analyses focused mainly on its use in the De Bello Gallico. Thus, the context in which the author uses the term oppidum in a work completed after the Gallic War leads, on the one hand, to question Caesar’s choice of the word oppidum, and, on the other hand, to propose different translations for it; it is through several examples that I wish to underline the complexity of the translator’s approach.

The manifestation of Crohn's disease with perforation in pregnancy has been described in one case only. In our case, a 25-year-old woman in the 28th week of pregnancy was admitted to our hospital with signs of an acute abdomen. Due to deterioration of the maternal and foetal situation, the child was delivered by a Caesarean section. Subsequently, exploration of the abdomen showed an ileum perforation with diffuse fibrinous peritonitis. In this case, the definitive diagnosis could not be made prior to laparotomy. We report on our experience with 7 pregnancies in 6 women who previously underwent reconstruction of the urinary tract with a continent urinary diversion using an ileo caecal segment (Mainz-Pouch I), ureterosigmoidostomy or bladder augmentation. Urinary tract infection and upper tract dilatation were the only complications during pregnancy which required bilateral nephrostomies in one case. All other sequelae were handled conservatively. Starting from the observation of Luigi Sturzo who interpreted Gioacchino Ventura’s French period as a phase of involution of his political thought, this essay examines Ventura’s reflections on the 2 December coup d’état. In order to understand the reasons that pushed the Sicilian Theatine to exalt, after the enthusiastic adherence to the ideals of ‘48, the Second Empire as a consecration of a divine plan aimed to preserving the sovereignty, to support the Church, and to reject the advance of a democracy opened to socialist demands, the analysis will focus on the political judgments expressed in the preaches of 1857 held in the imperial chapel of the Tuileries.

ntroduction: Authors have carried out a survey to evaluate the appropriateness of the caesarean deliveries performed in a hospital of Sicily (Italy) during 2013. The choices of these surgeries have been compared with italian and sicilian guidelines. Materials: EpiInfo 7.1.4 software (CDC - Atlanta - USA) was used to perform the statistical data analysis (chi-square test). Results: We analyzed a total of 818 medical records related to 50.61% of spontaneous deliveries, :06% induced labor, and 46.33% of cesarean deliveries.
